See the retro Beachhead is a problem for me. I like the mold and shape but the colors are not doing it for me. Same deal with another old fave of mine, Mutt and Junkyard. Loved the Joe and animal ARAH stuff, but Mutt seems odd to me, although super accurate in design and colors. I know Beachhead is retro accurate, but I kinda prefer the Cobra Island beachhead in the modern style and color, but those shoulders/butterfly joints are weird. I did get retro Duke, Firefly 2, and some others that fit in a kinda retro kinda modern design frame. Overall, I am enjoying my Joes and Valaverse figures the best right now. I haven't bought a Marvel Legends, Todd DC, or Star Wars Black Series this year or maybe even longer. I already have most of what I want from those lines (except the dang Lizard from ML, and a for-real good McF Superman) so Joe and Vala have consumed my focus. While I tend to stay away from the more wackadoodle Joe designs like the range viper, Big Boa and Dr. Mindbender, I HAD to get Serpentor because he's so over-the-top and is one of my favorite Classifieds. Even though he more looks like a Spider-Man villian, I love the figure.

I prefer most of the modernized Classified myself (and I'm an old-schooler) but most in here that I've noticed are into the classics.

I think Nemesis Enforcer/Immortal has always been a fan favorite, even if Cobra-La hasn’t been. I think people just didn’t like the Cobra Commander Cobra La origin. Had Cobra Commander kept his used car salesman turned terrorist back story and at some point nearly in his career stumbled upon the lost ancient society of Cobra-La people might be more accepting. I think Cobra Commander just being a man and not some alien/mutant creature is much scarier and intriguing. I choose to think of Cobra-La as the original backers of Cobra and their plans and CoCo’s may not always be aligned, hence the creation of Serpentor. I can make it work in my own head canon, even if it’s not official true.
Makes sense. To me, the car salesman CC doesn't seem sinister at all, more like goofy comedy but that could be impressed on me by the tone of the cartoons more than the comic books. I kind of like both car salesman and the snake man CC equally but, it's connection with underground snakemen organic-technological civilization Cobra-La gives snakeman CC the edge.

What they’re doing with CC in the new Skybound Energon universe is interesting. They’re keeping the Cobra-la stuff but not making him the coward of the cartoon. It’s seemingly like a nice balance of a few different versions of CC. I really liked the Resolute mini series version of him and this feels a bit more like that.

Slightly off-topic:

I freaking love GiJoe Classified Series and all of the people behind.

But there’s so much toxicity in the fandom it’s ridiculous. Shark News on YouTube, was one of the few ‘influencers’ online who had content that I actually enjoyed and had consistently breaking news over the last few years.

Some people actually sent in false copyright strikes against him and his channel is going to go away. There’s other channels on YT that straight up stole content from other creators without ever giving any credit, taking it for themselves. Shark, in all of the videos I watched, always have proper credit to the people for his leaks and stuff.

This was just supposed to be a fun hobby for anyone who wanted to collect it. 🤦‍♂️

It's Viper Island on Youtube, he's been going around and attacking anyone who criticizes him with channel strikes. I've heard his channel has been suspended, not sure if that will help Shark News or if he has a permanent suspension.

The only channel I ever listen to is Full Force. It’s a pretty positive show and Chris is on good terms Emily, Lenny, and Tony. I feel the internet just breeds toxicity with any fandom these days. The Acolyte isn’t the greatest Star Wars ever made, but it’s been entertaining so far. The internet would have you believe it’s the worst thing ever made. There is plenty to criticize in any fandom or community but looking for and celebrating the good is what I enjoy most about them. Rather than being the one weird guy that trolls the Target toy isle, it’s nice to connect with the other weirdos that do the same thing in their areas.

Yeah, that’s the story going around. I heard someone on instagram flagged Viper Island like 37 times or something because he stole content. Shark was very vocal against Viper so I’m sure him and his followers struck back to get even.
I’m sure both channels will come back in a different fashion.

On an aside, Hooded Cobra Commander 788 has retired from making videos. 10 years and over a thousand videos. I've posted his videos here several times as a reference point for 80s era original RAH. He previously used every Friday to do a review for Classified.

Tough to lose product news and reviews, but over time, someone else will fill the gap. This kind of stuff is quietly a competitive space. Something interesting though is how much free stuff these guys end up getting. People just want to mail stuff to them. I can see it with HCC788 though, the guy clearly loves GI Joe. You can see that people appreciate how much he loves GI Joe. I can't say too much about the other guys, as I haven't seen so much of their stuff.

It messes with people, some of them, when they start getting free stuff, when people want to be your friend, when people want your autograph, etc, etc. While it might sound a little nutty, one of the most dangerous places a person can be is when they are perceived to be challenging someone else's core identity. For some online, doing this kind of stuff becomes their core identity. And when you might not have anything else but this, the perception, or reality, that someone is "taking something from you" can become worse.

Something I used to say on OSW about the hobby has always been true - The best thing about this hobby is other people. The worst thing about this hobby is other people.

Hmm, embarking on a smear campaign... just as an agent of COBRA would do!

I really dug HCC788. His community was awesome as well. I loved his "Classi-Fridays" and the funny ridiculous names he came up with the 4 symbols on each figure's packaging.

Yeah, the Cobra Ferret rocks! I haven't had one since the original back in the day. Excellent touch with the motorcross helmet for the Scout.
I love how Lenny embraced that those side missiles make absolutely 0 sense! :lol

Is that the guy who wears over sized shirts with epaulettes?

Artist Shark stole my pics that I had put up in the Facebook Collectors Group of Gnawgahyde and Retro Beach.
The same pics I put in THIS very thread.

He never even gave me a shoutout.

Not that i care, but he is as guilty as
Viper Island.

and I know I'm not the only person he stole pics from without asking or linking too.

and really, what NEWS did he ever break?
He has just been leeching off the people that actually broke the news first.
Go read his description of himself...he doesn't collect Gi Joe...but has been given a lot of the figures and vehicles from "fans" of his channel.

Thankfully I collect these figures for fun on the side of collecting Star Wars Hot toys and vintage star wars....

It really is such a big drama...and seeing other "fan" channels racing to support him, when they don't even know why they are supporting him, other than being scared their channel may be next.

Well there ya go. Apparently, he’s as guilty as everyone else. I only ever followed Shark on YT and Twitter, where he always gave proper credit for everything I ever saw or read.
I tried the FB groups for a little bit. It was either just straight up toxicity or bragging rights. I remember a thread where people kept upping each other in how ever many HISS tanks they backed…and I was like who could possibly care?!
That’s why I like this particular thread. The HISS Tank forum is fine, but it goes way too fast for me. This thread is more my speed.

Again, I love Classified but can go without all of the other nonsense. 🤷‍♂️
