Is gamefly a good deal? Previously for my PS2 and Wii usually buy only 2 or 3 games a year, but I'm looking to buy a PS3 and am guessing I will play a lot more now. Is this service as good as Netflix? Are there long waits for new games?

i use gamefly, I like it alot. I pay like 8 bucks a month for one game at a time or something like that. getting games in the mail depends on if there's any gamefly warehouses by you. it can take up to 10 to 12 days to receive a new game. usually doesn't take more than a week.

is it not like netflix where if the one you want is unavailable they send you the next one? it will just wait and not send anything until your game is ready? i guess a few week wait insn't too bad.

Yeah there's a Que that you can set multiple games in. If you don't want to wait for a game, just bump the second or third one up to the top. I didn't like gamefly when I had it last year. Sometimes it would take 2 weeks before I'd get a game in, and that's not cool with me when the mail shouldn't take more than 3 days tops. My buddy has it now and told me they got a LOT better with the processing and shipping of the games lately and he often gets games within 2 days.

~~This is a great deal if you like to take your time when playing through a game because there is no due date, but if you're like me you burn through a game in a couple days depending on the difficulty and length so if that's the case I suggest just renting from Blockbuster.

ok cool. but sounds like its still better than buying anyway. then again sometimes I take months to play a game.

Non Gamefly related: Another option is visiting cheapassgamer.com, and looking around for deals on the forum. But, I usually buy only six games per year (just like wookie).

Gamefly is an awesome service and if I didn't have it I wouldn't be able to play half the games I do. It's simply too expensive to buy every game that you want to try, at least for me anyway. I pay about $32 a month for 3 games out at a time but I change my plan every now and then. I usually upgrade if there's alot of games coming out that I want to try and downgrade if there's a dry spell.

As for how fast you get the games, it does depend on how close the different warehouses are to you. Luckily for me I have one close to me so once the games ship out, I usually get them the next day. I can't recommend this service enough, especially if you can't afford to buy everything or even if you just don't want to.

I usually start up a subscription when there's a lot of games out that I want to play. I've experienced that there's up to a week turnaround time. They just don't carry enough copies of the hot new releases to keep the wait time manageable.

I've cycled through them about 3 or 4 times now, and I've only canceled it once because there were just no more games out I wanted to play, all the other times it just took too long to get a game. I shouldn't have to wait more than 4 days for a new game. They say in their press materials that the game gets scanned at the post office and they ship out a new game as soon as it's scanned not when it's received at their warehouse. I've never seen it happen that fast.

I was about to type these exact thoughts. I'm currently with them but it's b/c there are SO MANY games out I want to play...and I play Mass Effect 2 while I wait a week. They shipped the #7 game on my list this week even though others above it were showing as "medium" availability. I use them b/c they are all there is to rent from. The BB near me doesn't do the rental plan thing. Netflix takes 2 days...I return it on Monday and get my new one on Wednesday with Gamefly it takes a week so I can only get 2 games a month and that would be if i only played them a week each. It's almost worth having 2 games out at a time with them so I can play one while i wait for the other to arrive.

Well in regards to SwedishHeat and Vader AL that posted about having a hard time getting games. In all honesty Gamefly can't possibly get enough games of one title to ship to every one of the I'm sure hundreds of thousands of subscribers they have. I know it can be frustrating not being able to get a game you want and it happens to me too but I understand that they only have so many copies and I just have to wait sometimes. I guess I've just gotten used to it at this point since I've had the service for at least a couple years now.

Personally I've never really had a problem getting any new releases right when they come out. In my experience I've always put a game in my GameQ at least a couple months before it releases and as long as I have a spot open and it's at the top when it releases, I have always gotten a copy.

That's the key though with new releases, you have to put it in your GameQ quite a bit ahead of time. Think of it as the pre-order system at GameStop, it basically works the same way.

I think I've only had one instance also where they didn't receive one of the games I sent back but it was resolved very quickly. Like I said I absolutely love Gamefly, it's essential to my gaming experience.

go and rent a game that way you get to play it the day you want,l wold never use game fly, you wll never get to games from them in time to fit in a month so for $8 mise well go rent.

sent a game back last monday (15th)...still waiting to have the next one shipped...i have 10 games in my que.

will you stay the night, or will you put your panties back on real quick and run out like last time. :lol

what is the next game in your queue?

Heavy Rain, Dante's Inferno, Bioshock 2, AVP, Bayonetta.....

They seem to bypass the games that have a long wait though because I received my #7 choice (Operation Flashpoint) for the first rental...I rent 2 at a time....last week.

Yeah you have to try to have some patience with Gamefly. All the games you listed Vader are all new releases so it's gonna be a little while before any are available to send out. Even when some are available if others are ahead of you, as in they've had the game in their GameQ longer, they'll get a copy first. When it comes to the new releases your best chance is to put the game in your GameQ a couple months before it releases so you have a good chance to get one when it comes out.

You have the best chance getting games that are Medium, High and Available Now. Medium availability might still give you some trouble though.

once i get a ps3 i'll have a lot of catching up to do, drakes fortune, assassins creed, yadayada so i probably wouldn't have too hard getting those, but would it be cheaper to just go buy used?
