Gluing on hair?

Im working on a custom and I was wondering if anyone had advice on attaching hair.

What kind of glue works the best?

Starting at the bottom and working up as apposed to top down?

Large chunks or thin multi-layer?

What do you guys do?

How about gluing down short, spiky hair? Is it possible in this scale?
