Friend at my comic store said I should pick this up---do not read Green Lantern--but I think this is going to be a great story line.
Any other freaks pick up Green Lantern # 43
This issue is the prologue to The Blackest Night

Mod Edit:
PLEASE NO SPOILERS UNTIL SAID SPOILER'S COMIC IS RELEASED!

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

I will pick it up next time I go to the comic shop. I have been following GL religiously since the Sinestro Corps War. Geoff Johns sure does write a mean Lantern story arc.

Blackest Night also looks cool because some fallen DC characters will return as Black Lanterns

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

I may need to go back and pick up the older issues

Yes, you do.

One of the story arcs between Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night was Secret Origins, where Johns revisted the origin of Hal Jordan, masterfully interweaving the beginnings of Blackest Night into the story.

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

I know furystorm has some comics up for sale---I'll PM him

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

I've been wanting to read this. I thought it was already out for a while, but if it just "started" this week, then I'll be sure to pick it up when I go to get my Stand comic. :rock

And yeah, I'm looking forward to the Black Lanterns!

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

Officially it just started this week. They've been running the prologue to Blackest Night for a while now though. So far it's a fantastic read, the Green Lantern comics are by far my favourite ongoing series at the moment, and I wasn't really a Green Lantern fan before this latest run (of regular/Corps)

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

jump on board guys, gl imo has been dc best superhero comic since jordan's return in 05. issues shouldn't be that hard to find as most shops stocked this series heavily. don't sleep on it, blackest night is gonna be a hot story to read.

GL is my fav too along with the Batman comics currently. Can't wait for Blackest Night, and I really hope the movie does the character justice as well!

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

The Blackest Night is gonna be GOOD.

GL has been an excellent book since the return of Hal Jordan and with Geoff Johns at the helm.

If you haven't read the Sinestro Corps War it's available in TPB in two volumes as is Green Lantern: Tales of the Sinestro Corps.

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

I'll be getting this today when I go to the comic shop. Green Lantern has been the most consistently good book at DC over the last few years. For those who haven't been reading it, now is a great time to hop on. I've always felt that this has been one of the most new reader friendly books around.

Also, if you're interested in starting Green Lantern I'd recommend trying to track down Blackest Night #0. It is excellent.

Hal returned in the Green Lantern: Rebirth limited series. :D :rock

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

I stopped reading comics a while back and I am seriously considering picking this up. I miss comics. I quit comics because I grew frustrated with bad story lines, bad gimmicks and bad writers. I wish I could read Batman again, but I can't stand Morrison's story telling and I can't stand Quietly's (sp?) art so I'm SOL. I'm really hoping that DC shows me something at SDCC this year that pulls me right back into a comic shop this year.

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

Absolutely my FAVORITE comics of the last couple of months has been GL and GL Corps. And I'm a huge Batman fan. And then the prologue to BLACKEST NIGHT. WOW! What a way to start! It is very essential you go back and read GL and GL Corps from Sinestro Corps War on to get the gist of what is happening.

If nothing else...pick this book up, IC. I think you'll enjoy reading it, Geoff Johns is a fantastic writer and has brought GL back to the top with his writing.

Re: Green Lantern---Blackest Night

I picked this up today at the LCS. Best part was they packed it with the Free Comic Book Day #0 issue! I didn't get to the shop on Free Comic Book Day, so I figured I was SOL on being able to get it without paying for it. So that was an awesome bonus I though! Just another reason why this store won the comic shop of the year award at SDCC a few years ago :rock
