Just a little freaky
To be perfectly honest I only registered in order to be able to post a huge 'thank you' over on one of the Marvel boards for all the help the posters -- unknowingly! --gave me, but after having a little more of a poke around I realised that perhaps I belong here more than I originally thought...
I am, albeit with a short attention span and little staying power, a collector through and through.
I've been through Star Wars - around the time of the cinema re-release of the (not overly) Special Editions and the post Empire Strikes Back novel, Shadows of the Empire. Somewhere in a couple of plastic boxes in the shed I have -- all but completely forgotten about -- numerous MOC figures and other assorted 'collectibles'. I even have an AT-AT living in a printer box under the billiard table!
(And, jumping fandoms here, a couple of RC Daleks in my bedroom. But, really, who doesn't?)
On a more feminine side of things I have probably 150 or so Barbies and 50+ Ball Jointed Dolls. While I might add a couple of Barbies a year (Silkstones, mainly), the poor BJDs are now pretty much just expensive dust collectors.
Currently I predominantly collect autographs (from the comfort of my laptop, as while my wannabe-stalker-gene is weak, my love-of-Paypal is strong!), and diecast models of my favourite V8 Supercars.
As for how I found the forum? Why, ebay + Google, of course.
I stumble across the Hot Toys Hawkeye figure on ebay - I want to know more - I stumble across the forum & encounter everything I needed to know and more - I dither a little & fail dismally in my attempt to convince myself that I don't need it -- I cave in & order on Thursday, it arrives Monday and is now standing next to me, glowering ominously at a Big Bang Theory 'Soft Kitty' plush, as I type...
So, in a nutshell?
While a little on the fickle side, I'm a collector, I love collectors (and detail... I'm a big fan of detail. If I had the time, patience, money, skill, & space I'd probably be all over a train set for no other reason than I could go crazy on the detail!), and I especially love seeing what other people collect.
I suspect I won't be very active here, but just have to say I think the forum is fantastic and an absolutely great source of information!
