Did a quick search here and on Google. Read some stuff on OSW but nothing concerning damage. I'd really like a way to illuminate the case but will it fade clothes/rubber or anything even worse?

Just did a quick google search for Grundtal. It seems they are halogen lighting, which aren't the best (most of the energy is lost on heat). Go for some LEDs. More energy efficient, less heat, and no fading.

I just ordered a set of these (warm light version):

https://ledlightingkit.com/led4white.html

Cheaper than Ikea's Dioder and supposedly brighter. I've seen the Dioder's at the Ikea store, and I wasn't impressed.
A. Not as bright as I had hoped
B. I don't like the way that cool light looks on collectibles

They should be getting here this afternoon. I'll post impressions of them later or tomorrow.

Thanks for the input. I'd be eager to see those lights, Jedah.

I don't mind the cool lighting of the Dioders, but it does bother me that the light doesn't really reach past the first two shelves of the Detolf (and they're too expensive to buy for each shelf imo). I was very close to buying some more to install on the bottom, shining up.

Looks like it's going to have to wait until tomorrow. I work overnight and have to go to bed soon, but the mail hasn't arrived yet.
It's usually here by noon, but sometimes (especially if my regular carrier is off) it can get here much later.

Since Dioders come in a pack of four, I just stick one on each shelf, that way each compartment is well lit. The coolness is a bit of a bother though as I prefer warmer lighting. The good thing about the Dioders is that they are only 3mm thick so they are very unobtrusive.

These are just test shots to give you an idea of what it looks like. Average camera, and my photog skills aren't much. Needless to say that it looks much better in person. I quickly taped two of the four lights up in my main Besta. This first set of four LED strips are going to be put into my bookcase. At the end of the year I'm going to be getting six more sets to be put into my Besta cabinets.

I like them. The warm light matches the light from my desktop lamp and my floor lamp so that when everything is on it still looks nice. Unless all you have is cool lighting, or you intend to only light the room with LED strips then the warm white is the way to go.

Here it is fully installed. I can't wait to get more so that I can set up the whole room.
