At the last shareholders meeting Iger specifically said that Disney is jumping back into home media hardcore he reminded them about the high revenues from days gone by.

Without admitting it he pretty much confirmed that their home media efforts from the past decade were barebones so that D+ could receive all of the attention.

Now watch phase 1-3 get released with their proper Imax ratios!

First time ever for MCU - the home video release has the variable aspect ratios switching between 2.35:1 and 1.85:1.

The original GOTG and Civil War had shifting aspect ratios for the 3D blu-rays. That said it's about freaking time they went back to doing that, this will be my first Marvel physical purchase in years!

First up, the big one: Disney and Marvel have officially set James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/1, with the Digital release expected on 7/7. You can expect Dolby Atmos audio and HDR10 high dynamic range on the 4K SKU. The Blu-ray Disc will include 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. But here’s the most interesting thing: For the first time, a Disney/Marvel title has included a variable aspect ratio that switches from 2.35 to 1.85!

I would but my 3D tv is in hibernation. The screen was going black, so I put it away for the time being, plus they stopped making 3D vids.

What's weird is that Bill Hunt made that announcement you quoted who is the same person who originally reviewed the GOTG blu-ray where he specifically called out the shifting aspect ratios:

Maybe he meant to say "first time in 4K?"

I have to give it to Hemsworth.

He is the only truly successful actor to come out of Marvel.

Certainly more than even Scarjo and Evans.

He has created a new super successful franchise with Extraction that is directly competing with JW4 but it’s the military realistic version of JW’s bonkers fantasy world so there is room for both.

He can end Thor and be completely fine.

Extraction 1 and 2 are also HUGE hits for the Russo’s and Hargrave.

In a way director Hargrave is even crazier than Stahelski.

Listen to that dude he’s a crazy stuntman who hates whiny actors lol

Netflix saying it’s one of their most popular movies ever.

True but I don’t think anyone from the MCU is leading in a new and super successful established franchise like Hems is with Extraction.

Extraction literally became the new Expendables and is giving JW serious competition in the hyper action department and Extraction is more gory which is a plus for me over the JW franchise.

Wait how about Evans and Batista in Glass Onion or Scarjo in Asteroid City…

And the best part…I didn‘t even hate Thor 4…

I just watched this movie (I know, late), but its just awful. A lot of misplaced wanna-be jokes, dysfunctional and the characters just regressed and undeveloped. James Gunn should just quit while he's ahead. I see Jennifer Holland, his now-wife, is in it too. Talk about sleep with the director and get cast in all his movies.

Opinions may vary on this film, but Gunn definitely knows how to put actual crowd pleasing moments into a film/series. I swear that some action scripts nowadays get so slogged down with endless self-fulfilling narrative that they forget to built impactful moments from them.

Odd that this is the GoTG3 thread and you completely overlooked Chris Pratt. GoTG showed that he could star in big budget movies and it led to the Jurassic World films, The Magnificent Seven remake, The Tomorrow War, Passengers, etc.. OK not all of them are winners but I'd be surprised if Hemsworth is getting paid more per film than Pratt.

I think Chris Hemsworth is a great actor, and I'm glad to see that he's been able to find success outside of the MCU. Extraction is a great movie, and Hemsworth is great in it. I'm excited to see what he does next.
