Yeah, the SecretCompass deal looks to be the best price plus shipping.
Supposedly, the HAL lights up and talks, but still for $500 or so, I might expect a motion sensor that triggers the speech like the Star Trek communicator door chime that ThinkGeek put out ($30) or have Bluetooth like the "IRIS 9000" also from ThinkGeek ($60).

It is really cool, but still not sure $500 cool. There are a few fan made replicas on RPF though.
