Freaks,

How many of you are struggling these days and had to resort to selling your most " Holy grail figure ? Which one did you wish you did not have to sell ?:(

The wave is just breaking over here. Worst possible time to sell your collectibles as you'll get less for them, as less money in most budgets will be allocated for luxuries.

The grails have enough demand for them to ride the crest, for the moment.

It's one collection, so I do not wish to sell any. As is always the case, there are at least three sides to any coin. You could sell off the lesser items, at a loss, but not care. You could sell off the grails, knowing you will have gotten the best possible price, and be happy with that, also knowing you might never possess one again, or you could sell off your unwanteds, being happy to clean up your display, along with a grail or two, to get some liquid funds, and be happy regaining some space.

I don't usually sell any items, so I can't say which grail figure I have owned, that I've sold, and wished I hadn't. I'll participate by using my own interpretation of your question.

You're best to keep your favourite pieces. These will hold off the pangs for having sold off, perhaps, a more rarer piece. My favourite 1/6th figure is the Enterbay Bruce Lee Enter the Dragon 'B' version. My favourite PF is Universal Monsters The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

There is no way I would sell any of my collectables, love em' to much.
But at the same time I never let my self get into stupid dept and not
having credit cards helps. I'll only spend my own money and if I cant
afford a perticula collectible..stiff s^^T. The cost of living aint cheap
and that is priority No#1.

I am still going good job wise so I haven't HAD to sell anything (I have sold a few things I didn't care about anymore.) But I have cut way back on new stuff, only getting the stuff I really want and not just what I think looks cool.

No, not the bad economy, but the lack of space... . I usually don't sell items but I've already made a selection of what is to go. I'm holding on as long as possible, because selling later might mean getting more money. But I am really running out of space... Boxes, boxes boxes...

I'm gonna say its the other way around for me.

This is a buyer's market. If there was ever a time to buy your grail piece then this is it!

Agreed, I've seen stuff on Ebay and in forums for sale that you wouldn't have seen, a year or so ago. That being said, I'm very selective about what I buy, but I havesold off a lot of my stuff.

Every figure I've purchased over the years has been with the intention of keeping.

BUT...

There have been instances where the secondary market has raised the value on some older figures so much that I've thrown them on ebay without any regrets. This not only has provided some sweet funds for other things, but has opened up some space on the shelves.

As for the current economic climate, I'm simply being even MORE picky with my purchases. I've contemplated selling a few off just to raise funds for newer figs, which I would prefer instead. May still do so, even though I'll probably take a hit financially.

I'm doing well monitarily too, although I don't have a lot of extra funds for collectibles.
But, I love the size of my collection right now and am very picky regarding what I want to add to it anyway.

Just because the economy is bad, doesn't mean you should start selling off stuff. Lucky besides 401K, I haven't been affected by the economy.

Money has been very tight around our house over the past 6 months or so. I have tried to sell my Thor Ex PF and Godfather PF at very reasonable prices twice on EBAY and have not had any luck.

It's actually been good for me. I've done some cleaning up and decided to sell off all those old collections that no longer hold any appeal to me. Stuff like Japanese Macross toys and such. Anyway, I've been listing them on eBay and making quite a bit of extra money lately. So much so that I'm actually able to afford some higher-end collectibles that I wouldn't have been able to afford before.

Naturally, this won't go on forever as my stock of stuff to sell is getting smaller every week.

The point is that the economy isn't really affecting me, but limiting my collections is helping me out tremendously. Not to mention the space I've freed up in my collectibles room...

I've sold some stuff, but nothing I'm attached to and I'm planning to stay in the collectibles game.

However, for me to stay in the collectibles game means I'm going to have to really budget myself in other areas of general spending. Add that up, it adds up to way more than a 12 inch figure that comes out every couple of months. The week to week spending of random things is mainly what I have to watch out for.

I'm also not used to saving up or setting side money for a specific item, and that's going to have to change as well.

My plan to is to have a second part time job and work 2-3 times a week, and use that money for figures.

The reason for these things isn't the economy for me, though, it's the fact that I'm going to be buying a place of my own.

So far I'm doing okay, and I have too many other things I could sell off than my higher end collectibles.

I had to sell my HT Marines when I got laid off,
i was sad at first but after a while I got over it...
I'm doing better right now and hopefully won't need to sell
any of my Grail items...
What I've been trying to do lately is sell some of the stuff that
I don't like anymore, and being very picky on what I buy now...

I'm trying to keep my Sideshow grails and sell off my more lower end collectibles like NECA and McFarlane. Unfortunately not a lot of people are interested in my lower end stuff, they all want my Sideshow stuff.

I was thinking of selling some "grails" and then I woke up from the nightmare. It all stays! :rock
