Hey guys and gals, I thought I'd share some mods I did on the HCG Predator 2 Disc.

First off, the support rods/things on the top side of the disc (in the "open" position) where WHITE (unpainted :slap ), so I painted/weathered them appropriately.

Next up, I wanted the gears to actually move with the opening and closing of the disc (they just spin by themselves normally). So after some thinking/calculating I came up with a very simple and effective mod of putting in 1cm copper rods though alternating gears in a way that when the disc opens it rotates one set of gears one way, and another set the other way (like the movie). This also had the fantastic side-effect of making the piece feel more "solid" (kind of had a "loose" feeling before).

It made a great piece into a fantastic piece for me! :)

Anyway here are some pics (look at the 5th picture closely to see how well hidden the rods are, and matched in) and a video of it in action:

I guess I will have to look but I swear mine is painted Silver. One day I was moving some things around and I put my MR P2 spear in the hand and I thought it looked cool. So I emailed HCG to see if they had a extra hand and they did have 1 extra hand so I bought it and that is how I display the Spear now. I did ask if they had a left hand but they said no and I gave them my idea and suggested maybe they should produce some hands to display the Spear but they said it was to much work. I thought it is a good way to display the spear on one side and HOPEFULLY a P2 1:1 Bust in the middle and the disc and mask on the other side.

Why the hell was that part originally white!? :lol

My thoughts exactly, I though it was a defect until I saw other pics with the same thing. :dunno

You'll have to let me know if yours is actually painted. And awesome idea with the spear! :clap

Thanks I thought it was a neat idea. I checked for you it was white and they painted it Silver, I guess they forgot to paint yours. To me it looked like they painted it after it was put together too.

I just checked mine as well and the bars are painted silver. There is a little bit of weathering on them, not much. I am going to have to fix that!:)

Hmmm, interesting... Does anyone have a prop picture of this? I assumed copper because well... EVERYTHING else on the piece was copper. :p. But if it's supposed to be silver (or whatever), I'll change it ASAP! :)

It is kind of hard to see but it looks silver, may just be the lighting.

Crikey! Thanks! That's the best pic I've ever seen of the prop. And I REALLY like the almost golden accents on it... hmmm....

That area is silver on the Stunt version in the Winston Effect book.

Well, that does it! I'm off to repaint/fix those pieces! Strange thing is that the two "rods" on mine were already copper, I just matched the 2 planks accordingly, but the pictures show that the rods AND planks are supposed to be silver. :slap
