I don't know if it aired on TV first - but the DVD came out recently. Anyone see it? Seems to be off the geek radar as far as I can tell.

It was alright, not bad animation. A little better than the Ultimate Avengers movies and definitely better than the Iron Man Animated feature. The story was kind of interesting but it definitely lacked that Mignola-magic.

I saw it when it was on Cartoon Network. The story was good (co-written by Mignola) and it had the actors from the movie, but I didn't care for the animation. A little too generic for my taste. I wish they had done it like The Amazing Screw-On Head.

If you're a Hellboy fan, definitely a rental... but it will probably be on sale soon for $9.99 so you could always wait or just spend the $15. I'll probably buy soon enough.

not very good tbh.
looks like a Disney movie.

rental at best

It was fun. I wouldn't take the Hellboy franchise to seriously if I were you. It was an enjoyable littl view. And it was cool to hear Doug Jones do Abe Sapien's voice. I was afraid there would be too much of a disconnect after hearing David Hyde-Pierce's great voice in the film, but Doug was great.

By the way, if you are a Mignola fan, you MUST check out Amazing Screw-On Head. Pure Mignola and worth every penny.

I never saw Hellboy Animated because the character design just didn't appeal to me. Amazing Screw-On Head was, well, amazing!

The Amazing Screw-On Head was amazing. But what happened to it? Wasn't is supposed to be a series?

I rented it the other day and thought it was so-so, I also watched the Iron Man flick and liked it alot.

I loved it. The story was very Japanese pulling from real Japanese lore, the fact that it had some of the real actors from the movie uped it. My only problem is the animation. Not BAD,, but after a while it seemed like the people who did Jacki Chan Adventures/ The Batman which I'm not fond of the style. Should have been Bruce Timm. But the design for Abe and Hellboy I liked a lot. Over all I thought it was really fun and well written, like the movie. Yes, it could have been better, but not much. Fun and entertaining are the key words here, so it's worth the time.

I still say that my favorite comic to animated series was The Maxx..... Looked like the comic come to life.... just amazing in every way. Almost the way that Sin City was exactly what Frank Miller fans had wanted for so long and 300 looks to be more of that very same...

Wish more comic to animated features had the same amount of polish. This Hellboy one looks good, but not quite as dark as I would want it to be. Mignola's work carries this creepy tone that you can't shake, would be nice to just see that style animated...

I just saw that Batts!

Have you seen any new info on whether Sci-Fi might pick it up? I really hope they do, I enjoyed it very much.
I just checked the site, and there's nothing new about it. I really hope we see more episodes...even if it's direct to DVD. I watched the pilot episode at least three times.

DA, did you see Screw-On Head? It was great to see Mignola's art animated.

No, I haven't Batty.... But after seeing so many positive comments on it... I just might have to.

And Ill.... Yes I do like things darker... I just don't like this new thing in Hollywood, draining all of the fear and darkness from films. Even Horror films are dulled down so that we (the general public) can swallow them better.

Now, that doesn't mean I want to squirm in my seat and watch Hostel or anything.... But that would be because that film relied only on gross out scenes and not "true" horror to get it's shocks. This Hellboy is nice for kids and that's cool.... but Hellboy was never meant for the kids.... It's "supposed" to be darker... just look at Mignola's artwork!

God I hope I get to make a movie one day.... I promise to all of you... it will indeed be Dark....:lol
