Being a newbie to 1/6 collecting(I started back in march) I noticed the smaller characters, if you can call them that. Hawkeye, Nick Fury, are going for a ton of money on ebay and amazon. From what I hear it's cause HT didn't make as many as the others. Is this true? The only one I was able to get was Loki.

Welcome to the hobby my friend. But be warned...it 'gets' you very quickly! You'll be surrounded by them in a matter of months!! Yes, it seems that both HE and NF were both made in smaller numbers, but as Viking Spawn said, no official figures have ever surfaced. I think that HE will retain a certain degree of ongoing collectability and this low production run is one of the reasons.

Even if there is a Hawkeye in Avengers 2, I still think this figure will hold some value, at least double. Collectors need this figure to complete the first Avengers team.

And I think that this is the other reason. If there is another Hawkeye figure from Avengers - Age of Ultron (and HT would be silly not to produce it) then he will have a different look to how he appears in the original movie. Thor will be in it, but he might not even have the same costume as in Thor - Dark World.

I think that this element of 'changing up to something different' will give HE v1 some good life as a more valuable collectible. I believe that this particular aspect of collecting will become even more obvious now that MARVEL have really gotten into their stride re superhero movies.

Finally, welcome The Chev!! :hi5:

What's the going price on this guy now a days? Hawkeye and Fury are my only missing Avenger pieces(Initially told myself that I would stop at Cap & Iron Man..) anyways, I may be able to grab one at $460, but I'm also considering the 89 Batmobile, and certainly can't drop $1200 on both, is $460 a legit price? Or is it "possible" to find one cheaper?

I think you will regret dropping $460 on this, aside from being impossible to find, its a pretty basic figure. I think retail was 160. Better to just track down the head sculpt.

I'd go for the Batmobile if you're even considering it. If you have the space.

I personally would kitbash a copy before dropping $460 on one....i got myfirst 89 for $610, and hawkeye isnt nearly half as impressive.

I think Fury and Hawkeye were testers to see how many of the other avengers should be produced

Perhaps. They obviously didn't make enough since all of them are selling fast. Even Thor has sold out too! He was the slowest of the bunch which I really happened to like!

I think they just took everyone by surprise. There was a lot of 'ho-hum' responses when Fury and Hawkeye were the first two shown and put up for Pre-Order. They were definitely 'completist only' figures, as I can't imagine too many people that would want Hawkeye but not Iron Man or Cap. Then once the heavy hitters started coming out, people rushed back to get them, only to find them sold out everywhere, and prices just skyrocketed.

$460 seems to be about average now, and I'd imagine that it'll top out at around $500. Just Hawkeye compared to the Batmobile is a no brainer, Batmobile every time. But if you need Hawkeye to finish out your Avengers, then its a tougher decision, because you'll always see that hole in your collection.

Thanks to everyone who replied...this is a tough choice indeed, I hate the fact that Hawkeye is the hardest and most expensive to get, At least if it were a main character, I would feel more comfortable spending that amount of cash..(sorta)

I saw the batmobile in person at the Toronto Fan Expo, besides the incredible size, in my opinion it looked a little toy-ish, but extremely cool at the same time, I likely don't have anywhere to display it at this point, but I'm sure I'll regret passing it up... Whatever, got Catwoman and Hulk coming between tomorrow and Tuesday

May 2012 I had ZERO Hot toys...by September 3rd 2013 I'll have 19, you guys weren't kidding when you said this hobby was addictive

holy fudge :thud:

Hahaha, yeah, talk about going over board, technically it was good timing with the Avengers and recent Batman releases, I'm sure my annual pace will slow down to 3-5 figures per year.....right?!

I started in sept 2012 and have 40 plus and vehicles...trust me, its super addicting and I still need figures.

Since he has an expanded role in the sequel you could wait a year or two and get the Avengers 2 version and not waste so much $$

The price on version 1 will drop when version 2 is announced. People will be unloading them to "upgrade" to the latest and greatest.

I'm right there with ya. Been collecting about a year and a half and I think I'm somewhere around 24-25 now, including several customs, with three more on preorder. Amazing how quickly the collection grows (and the money disappears). :1-1:
