Ugh its like this figure has more and more problems than just the dome :gah: I passed on the V1 but didn't want to pass on this one, but more and more I read about problems, maybe if it goes down to 150.00
"Problems" is too strong of a word for what I'm describing. Most figures have a piece or six that'll fall off if you start fidgeting with them - I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something when attaching the missile guide. As for the remote having to be pressed so many times on mine, it's most likely low batteries in the remote. When my Robocop arrives I'll borrow the batteries from his remote and see if it resolves it.

Neither of these things I mentioned should stop someone from buying this fantastic figure.

Thats actually good to hear, but the dome scares me, so I'll still wait for the price to lower, did you try cleaning the uh area where the battery goes? maybe its something like that

i don't know man, hot toys should at least include everlasting batteries with their figures :D

Well the remote lights up every time I press the button so it's making a connection.

To be honest the volume is way too ******* loud on the sound effects to ever want to play them anyhow; you can actually hear the sound distorting as it rattles around inside his plastic body. What he really needs is a volume knob.

Also the recording is of a new voice why would you want to hear that awful thing :monkey3

I think the loud and sudden sounds of Ed were captured well, but that voice!
figure of the year if they had done the dome right

Agreed would of paid full price, I wonder why its so hard to nail rubber, but as I read in another thread even condoms have a expiration date :lol

If he's been kept in the box for 4-5 months now, any chance that it's been preserved? I finally have time to unbox but I'm afraid to at the same time....

Well this figure was released in what, April? Which means for those of us who are just buying the figure now, it'd been boxed up at the warehouse for seven months prior to opening. I'm not aware of a single report of someone opening their ED box to find a dried up crusty dome awaiting inside. So unless you're the first, I think it's gonna be fine :)

Maybe its a chemical reaction to something in the air, it goes to **** when people pull it out of the box it seems.

That could be it, cos mine is still as good the day he came out of the box, 5 months ago.

It's probably a climate-thingy. If its hot and dry, that dome will dry up too.

I wouldn't even say its like climate, but like pollution in the air, or something more to it, I'm not sure I wish I was a scientist and could answer it.

My guess is that they made the domes out of a two part compound & got the ratios wrong on some/most of the castings.

Too much of one one part and the molded piece goes all oily, not enough and it dries up and cracks. I don't think climate matters in this case.

Like I said I don't know the physics or science that goes into it, but you seem to know more than me, so if very well could be like you said and that its drying up due to the ratios of the compound.

I think one possibility is a chemical reaction with oils from hands; that would explain why they so far seem fine until they're unboxed. Could also be climate; salty or dry air both seem like possible culprits. Could be high-heat environments, too.

What's the crap everyone's been rubbing on their ED's? I know the original post calls for Krytox GPL105, but I'm not paying $18 for half-an-ounce!
