Yeah I never cared for how he looked in either ESB or ROTJ. They dulled him down so much and made him almost an orange color .Yeah, even back in 1983 I remember instantly noticing that 3-PO lost all his shine. Almost looked like gold paint instead of chrome. I understand that Hot Toys is trying to replicate that look but the speckling just doesnt do it for me. Still getting him so I hope that at a normal viewing distances its not as in your face as some of these close up images make it look?
well both the Deluxe MMS511 and the AOTC version have the ability to house Luke's lightsaber. The MMS511 version even came with uke's ROTJ Lightsaber as one if it's accessories. Though, it would be nice if they use the hilt from the ROTJ Emperor that was more accurate when unlit. The serving tray would be the main accessory for an ROTJ R2D2.So what are the chances we will see an ROTJ specific R2-D2 to go along with this guy? Just the pop up lightsaber would probably justify a new release. I would hope they did the serving tray setup myself.
My hope is R2 follows in C-3P0s footsteps and gets a ROTJ next. Thats the R2 I want in my collection.well both the Deluxe MMS511 and the AOTC version have the ability to house Luke's lightsaber. I was unaware, joined the game a bit late. That might put a damper on my hopes and dreams.Didn't they make that one already -- the R2 that covers all the OT films? the MMS511 deluxe R2...

The only thing missing was Jabba's serving tray

I don't know how some people do it: display all the variants like Hasbro figures -- R2 clean, R2 dirty, R2 with tray, R2 with arm extended, R2 with periscope, on and on... and then Luke Farmboy, Luke camo, Luke Jedi, Luke pilot, on and on, and then Leia princess, Leia Hoth, Leia Bespin, on and on, and then...
It's insane.
I agree. I have exceptions here and there of course as I'm sure many do, but for the most part, I just can't collect every version of a character anymore.I don't know how some people do it: display all the variants like Hasbro figures -- R2 clean, R2 dirty, R2 with tray, R2 with arm extended, R2 with periscope, on and on... and then Luke Farmboy, Luke camo, Luke Jedi, Luke pilot, on and on, and then Leia princess, Leia Hoth, Leia Bespin, on and on, and then...

I try to just get the best possible version of a character. I think most of the Luke's look off until the newer Bespin release which I think looks great, not perfect but great. I only have 1 Vader and can hopefully obtain the ROTJ Vader coming up so I can have the ANH masked Vader and then the ROTJ version with the headsculpt. After that I don't need any more Vaders. I don't have a Han either but the ROTJ one looks amazing so I pre-ordered that. I only need one C-3PO which will be the ROTJ version and I already have the Sideshow R2 which is fine for me, not sure why it gets so much hate.I don't know how some people do it: display all the variants like Hasbro figures -- R2 clean, R2 dirty, R2 with tray, R2 with arm extended, R2 with periscope, on and on... and then Luke Farmboy, Luke camo, Luke Jedi, Luke pilot, on and on, and then Leia princess, Leia Hoth, Leia Bespin, on and on, and then...

Respect.Collect OT-only SW is the answer - no PT, no Disney SW, no Marvel, no DC, no Potter or LOTR, no "cinema icons," etc etc (I'm not 100% on this: I do have 25 Raiders/Indy figs) - that's how you can have a "all the Hasbro variants" display in 1/6.
It will still add up to 200+ figs, but I manage to keep all of that displayed in one room with only a couple of cabinets slightly more crowded than I'd like. And yes, I have LOTS of Hasbro-esque variants (5-6 R2s, 4 C3POs, 3 Chewies, 5 snowies, 4 Tuskens, 5 Vaders, 4 Bobas, 10 Leias, more than 20 Lukes, pretty much every imperial trooper/officer variant no matter how minor, etc.)
