If only we had a Vader that - out of the box - looked like Vader from ANY OT movie. No luck so far or in the near future.:dunno

Maybe I'm just easy to please, but once properly futzed, HT's ANH Vader looks pretty good to me.

Nothing really bad about ANH Vader except his gloves. Hide those by holding a lightsaber and he rocks.

Has anyone posed this guy with the correct two-handed grip on a lightsaber...? Bet he'd look great.

Agree with WG. There's nothing really wonky looking about this figure except for the gloves; makes it look like he is wearing gloves and then soft guantlets over them. All of these little mods definitely make him look better without a doubt, but I think he's fine right out of the box. The only thing necessary I think (even though I failed in my first attempt) is moving the belt boxes closer to the buckle. I don't really consider doing minor futzing to what would still be all stock parts on a figure to really be a "mod" though.

He's good enough for me as weLL...and I am also one of those Vader connoisseurs, however, I like that each and every Vader product I have has its own character...that's what makes a collection for me because if all my Vader's were perfectly dead on, it'd be boring...id have the exact same sculpt for every item, when only the original will look exactly "right" everything else is a degree of Vader...

I agree. That's why as much as I'd like to maybe buy some parted out items, like the hands from the Rogue One figure, I'd still want a stock figure as well. I'm a sucker for anything Vader and he consumes the majority of my collection. I could probably fill an entire small bedroom just with Vader collectibles. I'm still hoping Sideshow does the McQuarrie 1/6 Vader figure sometime in the future... I need something different. Down the road I may eventually pick up the Rogue One version and even the SS Rotj (considering I have the deluxe) just because they're different enough. :cuckoo:

As happy and content as I am with my HT Vader, I immediately wanted to PO the Rogue One version. I know there's very little difference between the two but I think I'll always want the latest and greatest.

Though when I bought the Sideshow DX Vader, I knew it was just a placeholder until something better came along. Always saw that as more toy like and the grill drives me nuts.

I hear ya brother...he's th majority of my collection too...for the first time since I sold of two life sized pieces and lost several statues in a burglary, I'm displaying maybe half my Vader collection :) I'm excited but I will be selling off other collections just to make room for the Vader display...sorry alien and robots collection! Even some godzillas ar going :( but Vader has always been my main focus.

I'm not talking about quality, and it's a fine looking Vader (except those awful girl hands) - I'm just saying the HT Vader doesn't look like ANH Vader out of the box is all.

With a fair amount of modding, it can be MADE to look like ANH Vader (WTC's and JazzInc's modded HT Vaders are superb,) but I just wish you could pull a Vader out of the box and it looked just like he stepped off the screen. SSC ROTJ didn't. HT ANH didn't.

All Vaders come with a Vader helmet and armor and suit, so YES, it's never in dispute that you're looking at Vader figure, and I'm sure that's good enough for many maybe even most, I'm just saying I wish these companies would take it to the next level. We've had so many 1/6 Vaders over the years - time for a company to hit it out of the park.

I like the look of that Vader [emoji41]

Which one do you mean?

Well I currently rock the SS ROTJ version but i like the HT ANH as well. The picture posted was great and I think you can have a great Vader out of the box. I simply think it isn't completely rational to expect a perfect Vader when over in another forum we are discussing how the real Rogue One suit and the ROTS suit even missed the mark. I think making it exactly or even close to the way one would like it from the film is a lot harder than you'd expect. Personally, I think it is hard to do even back in the day with the exact same scale, exact same materials. I agree we should expect a lot from these companies and I commend your focus on attention and detail (it is what drives the companies to their best). But at the same time...I think the Vader renditions we've received so far are extremely detailed and well put together and shouldn't be completely overlooked or understated because it isn't in the 95 or higher percentile range of accuracy.

Take a look at the HT Vader chest armor for example - the paint on it is NOTHING like the way Vader's armor is in ANH. In ANH it's matte and monochrome - the HT one is shiny, with bright, clean black/silver stripes. All I'm saying is - if you're going to call it "ANH Vader" then don't release a figure with the chest armor looking like that, right?

That's not a collector being Mr. Nitpicky, that's just someone at a company not paying attention to pretty basic detail on a $300 figure.

If greater and greater screen accuracy isn't what separates one 1/6 version of a character from the next, then what does? SSC ANH Vader eight years ago cost $120 - the HT one is $300. Are we all supposed to just say "I don't expect it to be any more accurate, but I'm willing to pay 2 1/2 times the cost?" It just seems like a silly argument.

And the pic on the previous page is in black and white, with high contrast lighting that hides issues. In fact, the entire HT SW 1/6 series looks great in high contrast lighting from above.

Agreed, we got some cool Vader figures made by both SSC and HT. But none is exactly like we might want directly out of the box. That was the reason I first passed on HT ANH Vader, and later asked JazzInc to mod one for me.

Whiner. Perfectionist.:lol

Yeah we have some great Vader figures, but none 100% perfect right out of the box. I usually keep my figures bone stock and don't mod anything because I'm afraid I'll rip or break something lol. But given the comments about the chest armor color I agree that was an oversight. Don't understand why HT didn't match the scheme from ANH. And for that reason even though it's not totally accurate I decided to put the armor on the outside. I just like the look better with the way its painted like ESB/ROTJ. I tried to move the belt boxes close but that velcro is a pain to get them over lol. Here's how I have him displayed right now:

God, I wish. It's like every time they get so close to the finish line and the decide, meh that's enough. I swear, if they did like ten little things differently you'd get a killer ANH Vader right out of the box.

If anyone ever made the perfect Vader, there'd be no reason to ever buy another one!!! :lol SO, we're always gonna find a dumb flaw or "silly" oversight that just makes us go :slap .... Why'd they do that!! But we can dream and hope that one day.......
