I think it's an amazing figure! Far better than the later Spider Man figures!

I think it boils down to whether you like a more muscular Spidey or a more agile one. For me, the one from ASM2 is closer to how I picture Spidey.

I sold off the red and blue one after picking up the ASM 2 version. Much better representation of how i envision Spider-Man. I kept the Symbiote one since it is the only representation. Plus, it came with a cool Sandman base.

That's exactly what I did too.

I love how this figure looks and feels overall. I rather Tobey Maguire Spider-Man than the new movies.

I would highlight...

The good:
- overall feel
- a figure that it's fun to pose (get a dynamic stand)
- you can pose it without worrying too much about wrinkles in the costume (that was an issue in Amazing Spider-Man one)

The bad:
- weak ankles
- too short sleeves
- the top of the mask has some sewing that could have been avoided

I'd also like to point out, another thing that bugged me was the chin. The cartoons often showed the side of Spidey's face, and the mask conformed to his jaw line. However, on this particular version, the mask ends up rounding of into the costume, giving him a bit of a fat chin look. On the black version, because of the interchangeable head, the mask and the suit are not connected, so it wasn't a problem.

It's a bit of a nitpick, but it did bother me enough to not buy this.

It's a great figure, actually my first Hot Toys that opened the can of worms that is Hot Toys. Ankles are likely going to break and then just be held together by the suit, I also think it's common that the left sleeve is a tad too short from the way that the suit was sewn up with the body inside.

That's the reason why I never bought the red version, I have the black one, it's one of my favorite figures

This release suffers from the "Turkey Neck Syndrome". I was able to modify mine to match the fabric on the black suit version. Just took a close look at the way the fabric fell on the head and neck and took a leap of faith that it would turn out ok. And it did! Here is the result.

Because of how hard it is to pop the head on and off I would much prefer a magnet instead of the neck peg. I may still do that at some point but haven't yet.

Also because of the looseness of the fabric around the neck I had to tack glue it in place into the neck. The black version has elastic at the top of the neck and the base to keep it form fitting. Wish they would have done this but it was much improved on the black version.

I also added magnets to the feet so he could hang upside down.
It was the first mod I did.

I love this figure. After buying this, I never felt the need to buy any of the other versions. This IS Spidey to me.

Still a great figure so yes. Still getting posts. And Star Wars has been out on VHS since 1985 so what's your point?

I hate the ASM movies which is why I was considering this one. Having super dynamic poses are good and all, but I can live without them.

Old but not obsolete. :monkey3

In my opinion the only bad part is head.
Other than that I'm quite happy, even bought the second one.
I don't have black version but as I remember the head on that one is all plastic.

I'll see if I can get one this year. They're not terribly priced at all either.

The head on the black one is not plastic. It's the same head as the R&B one but the fabric is separated. Wrapped around the head and glued inside.
