Uhm, what? Sounds fishy. Never heard of him. Then again, it’s custom so not strange it’s not known.

How did you stumble upon his/her shop?

Yeah, I wouldn't confirm anything that could allow someone to scam you. Frankly, even if someone has a relatively good reputation, things can go wrong. Many here (self included) have been screwed out of money by custom artists who weren't able to finish the job.

How many people follow him? That might be an indication of his trustworthiness.
I've recently done transactions through facebook collector groups for the first time. The very kind and reputable moderator told me it was generally the expectation within the community to release funds before they would ship when i asked the same question. I've had several transactions under those conditions with kind, reputable and generous people since.
That's one persons limited experience though.
