Wow - just saw this Ani headsculpt on eBay. No interest in this figure, but very nice.

Like you said, there is no "bestest" Vader. They are all off and wrong in some way or another. HT continues to confuse with their choices and accuracy.

I prefer the non shiny ANH. It's what we saw for the 1st time on screen in 1977 that set everyone's imaginations on fire, and it's what's seared into my brain as my ideal Vader. For those who like shiny, they love to praise the RO version, but I can only assume when the ESB version is released, that will be the best shiny version. I like shiny too, and will buy either the ESB or hold out for the ROTJ...

Yeah, it seems every Vader HT releases has some funky choices and it varies release by release. Still not 100% sure if the ESB Vader is the same facemask or not - haven't looked close enough yet - but all the HT helmets have an underlying problem that is often hidden by harsh lighting, but shows up in brighter/softer light. There is no HT helmet I have seen so far that truly captures ANH Vader's look.

I also bought from a Hong Kong seller, he said Ani comes out in March it’s the first time I skip SS and big bad toy store. I’m a bit scared. I hope I get it.

From what I read not everyone in HK gets the figure right away. It goes by Date/Time of the preorder. Would be interesting to see when we will get ours in comparison to SSC and BBTS.

I asked KG Hobby when they would receive it and they said 4-6 weeks after it had arrived at Secret Base.

If folks who ordered from Hong Kong do not receive their's soon it will kind of defeat the purpose (and probably slight premium paid) of having ordered from Hong Kong to begin with...I would imagine that Sideshow orders are probably easily within 3 weeks of shipping...

I don't know about others but ordering directly from HK is the cheapest way for me to get Hot Toys. Being in Canada, SSC's shipping and import fees are too expensive for me.

Just this past week I did see SSC about to charge my account for the first monthly installment . I cancelled it of course I don't how see howpeople in U S will get that fast.

Pro for me is that I will get it faster than SSC and BBT the shipper even asked if I wanted to pay 15 for expedited shipping when he gets it. And on a note! One thing I worry about is about buying overseas and then having Quality Issues from a Hong Kong seller Vs SSC or BBT. This is my first crossing my fingers .

Just for those that don't know or may be new to this hobby. Buying from Hong Kong sellers doesn't mean you get figures early.

For a release HT typically has 2 initial release batches.

The first small early batch is from Secret Base. There you need to be a Hong Kong citizen and pickup at Secret Base in HK. These are the figures which reviewers typically get early. They also pay a premium for them. Not sure how much more these days but I think it is typically 15-20%.

The second batch is the larger volume batch and comes more or less the same time as Sideshow. Sometimes asian sellers get them out before SS, sometimes a couple of weeks after SS. That may also depend on the buyer you have chosen, how many he ordered, where he is located in Asia and other factors I guess.

Hot Toys also doesn't say OK we think we'll make 1000 of these. They rely pretty much predominantly on pre-orders from their distributors. The distributors may add more than the actual customer pre-orders you and I make to account for any late comers and depending how well they think it will sell. But I'm sure Hot Toys doesn't sit on a lot of stock which no one wants. They leave that risk to their distributors.

That's it as I understand it. This was explained to me by Budget Stark, so I guess he should know the detail pretty well.

Man I would not order from this seller unless you don't care about box condition. I ordered Han Solo TFA from him and the box arrived literally looking like someone sat on it. The original shippers are not included. Also, It took well over the amount of expected time to receive. I wanted to leave him a neutral feedback but he delayed it just enough that the ebay feedback window closed! I was pissed.
