Saw this ont eh CTR website, I'll be very curious to see photos and hear reports on how this one turns out, could mean great things for long haired figures form Hot Toys, this method would have made their Elizabeth Swann so much better, perhaps they'll revisit her to cash in on the update.

That kind of material used for the hair is very hard to style IMO..

i usually hate rooted hair cuz of the barbie look but this actually looks pretty damn good.

ps. i was gonna say something about the "real-like head" pitch but i dont wanna get banned.

This is the future, Guys...

Rooted hair, maybe even articulated eyes. the movement has been growing in Asia for years now, many examples of this...

HOT TOYS TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!! :rock :rock :rock

I think they're testing it out to see if they can get it looking good enough and keeping the styling without getting too crazy. I hope their methods are working!

Awesome work Hot Toys! Looks fantastic!!!

some of my DID figs have real hair. it honestly isnt that good. prefer sculpted hair

That HS looks like a cross between Kiera Knightley and Angelina Jolie.

I'm cool with rooted hair as long as it doesn't fall out.

I think it's best benefit will be part hairstyles, for some reason, 1/6 makers like HT and Sideshow use sculpted wigs for figures that have parts, and when you do it that way, it looks bogus, the hair doesn't feel like it runs into the head. If this Swann portrait had the rooted hair and done well, she'd be fantastic.

I was always a rooted hair advocate back in the ancient days when there was no other way to do a female (no, it's not "new" or "revolutionary"). But I doubt Swann would have been as successful with real hair and I really don't think the LotR guys would benefit.

I'd imagine they're just doing it with this one figure because likeness isn't important and they're trying to differentiate her from the Machinko which uses the same head sculpt.
