I guess every actor has their limits, some can be fantastic at one thing but terrible at another. She was miscast but then again I thought all the inquisitors were miscast. I do think though that a lot of it was down to direction and script. An exceptional actor can make it work but they are few and far between.

To me, I can separate the figure from the source material. I own a bunch of figures from movies/shows I have no love for. This figure looks like it is quite well done and has a great head sculpt so may get it on discount (same with Grand Inquisitor and the others if they get made). A good figure is a good figure.
Yeah I still think the figure would look great in the collection with that cool lightsaber of hers, but definitely not until it gets discounted quite a bit.

Oh no, was Reva the girl in Queen's Gambit? Had no idea. Loved that series. I actually haven't been impressed with anything Anna Taylor-Joy has done since, sadly.
Since QG I’ve only seen her host SNL and she did a great job on that lol. I know she’s been in a couple of movies since then but I never got around to watching them.

**** Tracy was the first movie I thought about walking out of. :lol
Big Boy in **** Tracy.

They actually showed that film to Guantanamo captives... until they had to stop.
I like **** Tracy bwahhahahahaha. I know I’m the only person :):):):):)

And I like Pacino in it, he’s gloriously over the top in a film that just asks for over the top. The problem is he’s turned that over the top quality into a brand and its in nearly everything he does, even in romantic comedies and often feels out of place. Scent of a Woman, Any Given Sunday, Heat etc etc. Whatever happened to the quiet intensity of the first two Godfather films.

I think I understand the mentality that created immediate negative suspicions towards Reva and why Disney warned her of a backlash from the get go.

She was deservedly poorly received and will never be the beloved character with a spin-off series of her own (that Disney was hoping for) because she’s just so poorly written, has a warped, illogical motivation and wasn’t portrayed remotely intimidating or half as intelligent as the writers thought they were. Directing on Kenobi was also amateur at best so the actress should bare the least amount of blame for Reva’s failure to connect. Not none, but certainly not all either.

Disney labelled it racism/sexism/toxic/basement dwelling incel etc. from the start to absolve themselves of any responsibility for poor storytelling and token insert characters but people just know how the game is played and what to expect now- especially from Disney- and Disney know that fans of escapism don’t want their entertainment hijacked by activism, messaging, having to endure seeing their favourite characters be torn down by their superior ‘woke’ replacement. That’s a big deal to geeks but isn’t ever addressed.
It can be done it a more subtle and organic way but, more often than not, it’s just forced, painfully transparent and accuses fans of being wrong and bad for liking what they like which is why it all needs to change.

Reva didn’t actually slam the patriarchy, make other characters check their privilege or humiliate and surpass the ‘legacy character,’ at least, not in a sense that didn’t work within the logic of the story. Obi Wan shouldn’t have let himself deteriorate to the point that he would be utterly ineffective but they had to manufacture some character development from somewhere. It definitely wasn’t even in the same universe of insulting as She Hulk but Reva still represented that ideology and corporate and social agenda to over-reactionary commentators who would spread the word loud and far.

As outlandish and OTT as they can be, some still perfectly predicted Reva’s immediate promotion to primary character and her exact redemption/absolution of all wrongdoing due to past trauma arc before ep 1 aired because that’s just the formula now.
The villainous acting female is made that way by the genuinely evil man and therefore bares no responsibility for her wrongdoing and deserves forgiveness.
Obi Wan absolutely should have put her down and burried her in the sand. It was utterly irresponsible not to. He is literally guarding the best hope for the future of the galaxy and this murderous, emotionally deranged psychopath knows exactly where to find him. But Disney really wants that spin off!
I was actually hoping for a seppuku style death for Reva but I guess that would be far too violent for a show that portrayed lightsabers like bats that bounced off of stormtroopers armour.

Both Reva and the GI's sculpts are really well done. Maybe I'm blind, but was there any photo showing where the circle-thingy saber hilt rests on the figure when the blade isn't ignited?

Ironically, I think if the GI that we knew from Rebels wasn't in this show at all, and Reva (or any new character) was instead given the GI's nearly non-existant role and dialogue as the acting leader under Vader (and Reva's role itself, as disposable as it was, could be replaced with literally anyone else), I think her character's influence as a powerful female force user would've been much more impressionable with a sort of mystery which would have evoked some intrigue from the audience.

But instead they took the preexisting, genuinely interesting character that was the Rebels GI and gave him that contradictory role which undid the neat character we grew to expect by making him take a back seat.

Once again, I think Star Wars trapped itself in the dichotomy between trying to balance reusing old characters and introducing new ones, didn't know how to use either of them so gave them awful stories which could have been more interesting by simply swapping their roles, all before blaming the fans for not enjoying the legitimately awful "story" writing and hilarious lack of character development. I'm tired.

EDIT: Actually the more I look at the GI's sculpt, the more it looks like he just ripped one out in public and is hoping no one noticed..

It's weird that a multimillion dollar company does not know how to introduce new characters.

You give the lead role to an established character. You introduce new characters in supporting roles. Then you make those characters likeable and familiar. Though it's hard to do in the movies, series are perfect media for this.

Look at Ahsoka, Cad Bane, Bo-Katan, Asajj, Fennec, Savage, etc.

I don't get who people are comparing her too, she is a brand new character, and a good one!(how was she to be portrayed?)
Yet we get a glimpse of an alien for example like two tubes in a few seconds of film and people are in ecstasy and want their characters explored, the mind boggles 🙄
Are we any closer to an announcement for PO yet?
She is not a good character, she has no redeeming qualities. I’m not talking about the actress, but Reva the character is a failure at everything.

Her motivation was revenge on Vader/Anakin, which she waited decades to achieve and had virtually no plan to achieve it. We clearly see that she is willing to hurt innocent people and children, so she isn’t sympathetic to those people (which is fine, evil villains are the best). So, she isn’t trying to stop the Empire, just kill Vader, which again is fine, vengeance is a reasonable motivation for an evil character, but her “plan” is awful and makes no sense.

She doesn’t try to trap Vader or set him up where she has some kind of great advantage, she ultimately just tells him she hates him and he beats her horribly. But Vader is a true Sith. He seeks challenges to test his skills against. If she had simply challenged him he would have accepted and the results would have been exactly the same, which makes her motivation for her actions and her role in the show pointless. She wasted all that time and was just an *****. Then, somehow she is still alive, and seeks Luke? But doesn’t kill him because now she is redeemed? Maybe? How? Why? There is no reason to think she hasn’t slain force sensitive children in the past, there is no reason to think her desire for vengeance has been satisfied, and there is no great epiphany she has to face, other than Vader is much stronger than she will ever be in a straight fight to change her outlook on life. Her character should have been looking for an edge. Her only goal after hear that plot convenient message should have been to use Luke as bait to set Vader up in a position to blow his ship up, or something where she can try to kill him from a distance. Big bomb or something.

I don’t know if she is supposed to be redeemed by the end, I was waiting for her “plan” to have some kind of payoff, or for her to be shown as actively working against the Inquisitors the whole time, or something intelligent, but we didn’t get that. Just a dumb character doing dumb things.

I would watch Reva all day long over anything with Natalie Portman in it. Padme certainly was a snooze fest and a horrible character.
Hope Hot Toys announces Reva pre order soon.

I don’t know what your point is. It’s like people who claim the prequels are somehow better because the sequels suck. The idea that one thing is made better because another thing is worse is asinine.

If you like the character have at it, but don’t act like there is no reason for people to call the character out when she is so poorly written. Also, I’m not talking about Moses Ingram, or Natalie Portman. I don’t care as much about the acting if the writing is already poor anyway. And yes, lots of bad writing in the prequels, if that’s a thing that needs a mention.

That’s good then, you and the other two Reva fans will pre order this figure. :lol

Oh my good gosh, can we please take the vitriol about the character out of this thread and focus on the figure? I swear, you guys are going to turn her into my favorite character just so I can make sure I'm as far away as possible from some of this venom.

Pretty impressive looking figure. I’m likely betting the Grand Inquisitor so maybe I’ll get her eventually too.
