Sorry to hear that. I think if I was forced to cancel most of mine, the SW figs would be the ones to stay (both Mandos, Snowspeeder Luke, and Ahsoka). I could easily live without all the Marvel ones and figs like Gandalf, Alita, and Katsumodo.

I had a 42? lcd tv box up at work and decided to mock up the snowspeeder in cardboard in 1/6 just to see if it was doable...

It?s going to be big, lol.

Hehe nice! It?s doable though. Fairly big, but not impossible to display. Since it?s a bit up to interpretation (studio models and 1:1 prop). I believe the size of this one is pretty much accurate-ish, but probably 4-5% bigger than canon, so you could choose to make it a bit smaller.

Marvel...I think for me the most important Marvel are Cap, Iron Man and Widow to represent Avengers, and Spidey as a stand-alone figure. Snowspeeder Luke is essential. If I had to choose just one figure to represent Star Wars that'd be it.

That?s a great display. How wide is the craft at the wingtips/ the widest point? Does it fit figures in it?
I have scaled mine up using a set of digital callipers and the Bandai 1:48 kit. All sizes are scaled up to fractions of a mm.

I think the width is around 85cm. And there?s room for figures inside. I originally wanted to go with the canon size, but that wouldn?t allow figures to fit. I just need two extra Snowspeeder pilots [emoji51][emoji383] ...how wide is yours?

With a better likeness Tatooine Luke would be a contender for sole Star Wars representation; but I?m going by what?s on the market.

Thing about Snowspeeder Luke, he?s from my favourite SW film, and from a scene that blew my mind as a kid.

Sideshow have another Con in October too so there'll probably be extra rewards then too.

Chris may be referring to New York comic con too. Think they've done a few codes from there before. Not as big as SDCC so can't say for sure whether we'll see a virtual con this year.

Living in Europe I personally hope all Cons go online. It's a better experience for all. Better exposure globally for companies too.

Maybe I'm old and cranky but I'd never attend a con. Packed crowds and line-ups aren't my idea of a good time. I can see how some aspects of it are cool or exciting, cosplayers, celebrity attendees or whatever, but they're really not for me.

Cons are a good time, see random comic book artists, browse vintage toys and video games you had as a kid and see things in person rather than just in eBay listings.

It's like walking around a big *** comic book store or flea market full of stuff you generally have interest in. The less busy the better though. When it gets so crowded where you feel like you're walking through Times Square it's not worth it. My buddies and I usually attend one in CT, size isn't too bad.

Was definitely cool seeing Hot Toys figures at the Sideshow booth in New York last time I went (post TFA and leading up to Rogue One). Not sure I'll be back anytime soon. I've heard that SDCC is just a total zoo.

Totally agree. When they started doing bigger cons here, the type that attract the higher tier guests, I really enjoyed going. But then they got too big and I'm talking same venue, same calibre guests, just way to many people squeezed in and they stopped being enjoyable and just became stressful.

The other thing I dislike about these big cons is they are very elite. The number of people who can attend against the fan base is small. The number of people who can afford to attend when international travel is required (assuming they can even get tickets) is such a small percent. Then there are the con "exclusives". These days they are highly desirable and often some thing unique that the rest of the fan base is locked out of. I think there should be stuff you can only get at an event, but it shouldn't be the stuff the whole fan base is clamouring for.

Any way, old man rant over. I gotta get back to protecting my lawn from those damn kids.

Since this came up earlier, I'll post this here about AE's allocations regarding figures

This was an email sent out today.

As I'm typing this, I have 5 Hot Toys Ahsoka figures left...and that's on the second batch that I was I was able to get.
The first batch sold out in about 12 hours. And so did the 501st Battalion Deluxe Clone Trooper.
Today I'm giving you a peek behind the curtain as to why.
Hot Toys are the most popular collector figure on the market.
Sideshow is the U.S. distributor for Hot Toys.
Sideshow also sells direct to you, and they make more per figure when they do.
So it makes good business sense for them to try to sell more direct to you rather than to make less selling more to retailers.
Retailers are able to order a set number of pieces of any Hot Toys figure. This number is based on their past order history.
So, if you're a very small account, maybe you can order 6 figures. If you're a large account, maybe you can order 100 figures.
Alter Ego falls in the middle to high range.
Sometimes, when we sell out of something super fast, we can order more, but that's on a case by case basis.
I wish that I could order as many Hot Toys figures to meet demand. I actually could, years ago. But I don't think that we'll ever get back to that point.
