I could see all the differences from the photos during SDCC. But... Judging by the way things went with the regular Stormtrooper, I can all but guarantee you that 95+% of people could not tell the difference between this guy and SSC's even without a head swap. Replace the head on SSC's and I'd be surprised if 1% of people saw a difference even after 2+ minutes of staring.

Which way are the boot straps supposed to go on the Snowy? Inward looks wrong (bad), even though it may be accurate.

I'll eventually pick one of these up to go in the same Hoth display as my Sideshow version. Hot Toys have had it easy with Sideshow paving the way and laying down elements to copy and elements to change. Thankfully this one looks great, unlike the majority of the SW effort. They should probably not have copied Sideshow's mask though and instead have used a movie reference. Hot Toys seem to do best with masked figures, their humans haven't been good at all. Seems like a familiar line.

I may just get the helmet. I don't know why but I like the "bulky, big gloves" but hey to each there own.

It always seems to irk you when people like a hot toys figure over than a sideshow one, it's very noticeable and rather odd. I think it's great that newer collectors like myself can buy figures generally better than anything that has come before.

Maybe. Being a trooper-head this stuff just jumps out at me. To the point where it nags at my Nerd Brain and slowly drives me insane. :lol

I actually sold my squad a couple years ago. ;)

But I would have upgraded.

I enjoyed the SSCs, but the proportions being what they are, were one factor in my moving on from them.

I'm as obsessed with editing my collection regularly as some people are with accumulating large collections; so I may not be representative.

Your earlier post seemed to indicate you couldn't see the difference between the Sideshow and Hot Toys! Hence my abbreviated list of differences

Hot Toys didn't copy the Sideshow eyes. While both are squinty they are entirety different shapes. And the Sideshow ones are a little too low. So Hot Toys did do a much better job, it just needs to be "deeper" to match the costume.

Oh the straps go in front of the shin pointing inwards.

Put next to each other these 2 will look very different and yeah I'd expect the newer HT version to look better. That being said, I've always liked my SS Snowtrooper and if I don't own the HT one to compare than id stay consistent with my liking of the SS version. Out of sight out of mind.

At least the Hot Toys one will be able to hold a pose on its own.

i can just about get my head around the OT stormtrooper differences and care about them enough to know that the ANH trooper is my favourite. But as regards snowtroopers I'll buy if ot reminds me of the Kenner snow trooper and can stand up on its own.

You guys have convinced me....I will then need another dozen to follow Vader into the hanger bay. Oh that means I will need a 1/6 Vader too!

Plastic Enemies have just shown a HT Snowtrooper Commander on their FB page.
