toys don't try to hit you over the head with a political or social message either.

hmm I did not have the luxury as a child to have access to comics nor actionfigures so I am not very attached to the idea of these being toys. But I did just start out this hobby last year for TDK as I see these little creations as art and collectibles and not toys and maybe I am alone in this. man I am just another nuttjob amongst freaks I guess ;)
As for dropping the "force" on us only to be business as usual seems rather unusual so my bet is on fullblown HT SW figures. SS I am sure has pretty happy at reselling HT figures in the last year and very profitable at it without having to invest a dime and that is something all of you have missed as SS in the end is a business. If they can refocus on what they are unique and good at without spreading themselves thin and still rack in nice profits with a partner supplier like HT then I am sure we will see HT SW figures possibly alongside SS and if that is working out nicely to reboot SW for SS only more will come.

See? different mentality. My first Christmas, i was not even a year old. My grandmother gave me a Kenner Super powers Superman figure. that started it for me. that sealed it. To me, they're just the "grown up" version of the action figures I love from my childhood.
Even then, i STILL play with them. Take them to the park, and take pictures, like this

and get funny looks from people in the park.

I've amassed a TON of 25th anniversary GI joe figures, and put them into storage to give to my children, so i can one day see their joy in playing with them like i did.
They're toys. they are meant to be played with.
they're just EXPENSIVE toys.

as to the dropping of the "force" line, don't forget, Hot toys is run by a group of guys very much like us. Geeks, and nerds the lot of them. They got into this because they love this stuff. It's JUST a comment. i quote SW, indy, tron, stargate, and Doctor who constantly, when i can find an appropriate way to do it. it's a simple phrase, and nothing more. HT
is KNOW for weird connections, and teases that make no sense, or intentionally mislead as well. It's part of who they are.

Could mean something.
Could mean Nothing.
Could mean something NONE of us are expecting ( A master replicas style line of ships in 1/20th scale. for example)

But not mentioning ANYTHING at the MAJOR event at tokyo to celebrate their 10 year anniversary? nah. Just don't see it. not with Medi still releasing product.

i could be wrong, but i doubt i am.

What if this was connected to the comment that HT wants to make more 1/6 vehicles and what we are waiting on is an HT Landspeeder or Speeder Bike?

Good for you. I play with mine to the extend of taking pictures of them and making displays for them. They are part of my living room and I buy into them as I value these more than any form of artwork. I have no appreciation for paintings nor vase but this stuff I can drool over ;)

As for you dropping references of movies anytime you can is fine noone would expect you to make them into reality. HT making statements is a different story all together, they know that and we know that. They have yet to show being recklessly making statements like this. Like I said I just bet they will come out with their own SW line and it just makes business sense for SS to allow them to help them reboot this. Imagine SS wanting to reboot their 1/6 line with better quality products and charge the same amount HT does there would be a riot. This is a means for them to move past this preconception that they can only operate in their current boundaries

Just because someone isn't around isn't a green light to attack their person. This site is for the discussion of collectibles, not each other.

Back to business.

But on the bright side...with the general attitude of this thread...I am guessing that sales of Hot Toys Star Wars would be so low that the line would tank for them quickly...and then the issue will die.

Yup. Because this thread and this little site are the be all end all of the SW collecting 1/6 community the world over.

:lol

Excuse my ignorance, but we've known about all these (except the 1:1 Stormtrooper) for some time; are they indicating the releases will be soon?

I've had the one of the shown 3PO pix for nearly a year...

Dumb arse - last post was meant for the other thread...sorry.

I just want to respond on the Human likenesses, and TheJosh will agree with me on this as we were talking about it a few days ago. Sideshow can't be fully responsible for the the likenesses not being 100%. Take the Mace sculpt, Prototype looked pretty good, but Lucasfilm told them to change it to a more generic look.

:goodpost::exactly:

Lucasfilm owns the right to use the OT actor's likenesses in perpetuity. That is probably to the case with the PT. Star Wars merchandising itself served as a lesson to actors about controlling image rights.

So Lucasfilm will make HT tweak Indy for sure?

No. LFL has the rights to permit anyony producing Indy or Star Wars merchandise to use the likenesses of the actors, but they are not bound to guarantee the resemblance of a product to the actor. Many LFL based products have not looked spot on to the actors and been allowed to be made. It just means that if LFL wants a piece to look exactly like Ford, Hammil, Fisher, McGreggor, Portman or Christensen, etc., they can do so and dont' have to go get extra permission from the actors and actresses.

That's how it is with all licenses holders, they get a say in the final product, but having an actor/actress likeness as part of the license just means that products can look like that person, doesn't mean it has to.
