Got the V2 mando waist pad today. It looks much better though the brown on it is a bit lighter then the actual V3 one with the weathering. But it's the same thing so no big deal, I think you can get away with doing this look as end of S2/BOBF/S3 since his stomach pad was clean from what I've seen.

For all of you that have “polished off” some of the weathering, do you think the figure looks more consistent with how you anticipated it looking on your shelves?? I’m not trying to start a debate, but I am wondering if the heavy weathering is in some way a technique to provide a better photo product and bright light display look. It seems the additional weathering does keep the bright reflective “star” off the figure when a picture is taken with bright flash. This is a curiosity of mine, not anything more. Truth be told, maybe I am just hesitant to alter the figure in any way. I don’t know…

Honestly, think the weathering looked dreadful and I was very disapointed with it getting it out of the box. It completely dulled the chrome and just looked like a fake effect rather than a natural one. Having spend a couple of hours polishing up, it looks far, far superior over the original weathering effect. Pictures don't do it justice, it looks incrdible.

I was hesitant about picking this guy up, but I am very glad that I did. The chrome is amazing in hand. I cleaned off a lot of the weathering, but not all of it.

Self1: Here he is, after a year of waiting. But we dont have space right now, so we'll open the box and peek, make sure he's ok and has all his stuff.

This headsculpt is straight fire. And that cowlick on the crown of his head is the cutest figure-related thing I have ever seen. I am willing to die on that hill. This pic does not do this sculpt any justice.

Little Bit is adorable because of course he is: SO TINY

I had no reward points at the time to put toward this guy, paid full price and regret nothing. I will evaluate the weathering when I finally BUY ANOTHER DAMN DETOLF to put him and Throne Fett in, I should go and do this right now.

In short, if you pass on this guy - and you dont have Beskar Mando 1 - I truly believe you're going to regret it. But each make our own choices, we must.

I don’t like the head sculpt - it reminds me of Chuck Norris, I don’t like Grogu - especially when he’s nothing more than a little lump of plastic, and I don’t like the weathering and can’t be bothered fixing it myself. I’ll pass on this. I prefer the durasteel look anyway.

He's actually more detailed IRL. My phone regards anything other than the stillness found at the center of the earth as an earthquake in progress, with people flying through the air screaming in horror and overpasses crashing down on rush-hour commuters. This is especially marked for anything it regards as a human face. So pix on my phone are always blurred. Please excuse my crappy pix.

Yeah, I've not been able to take any pictures that do the figure or headsculpt any sort of justice. It's incredible IRL. Especially after wiping the crap off it.

I think I angered someone who sells custom chromed armor by giving this advice out free. They started harassing me on my IG saying removing the weathering “dOeSn’T MaKe iT a CusToM!”

I’m just glad people are able to do an easy and cheap mod to make the figure look better. I know the armor sculpts aren’t perfect but IMO it’s not something worth replacing entirely.

Huh. IMO part of being a community is sharing. Just because someone tells me how to do something doesn't mean, necessarily, I'd choose to do it, either from fear, no time, etc. and once I know steps involved, I may well decide a customizer price is definitely worth it in labor and materials. Just watching a great custom sculpt get painted by a pro for me is awe-inspiring. Someone may explain the steps in air-brushing a chrome finish but since I don't have and airbrush, that's nice.

Anyway, DX just arrived, quick out of the box and getting warmed up; this BEAUTIFUL fig I have instant warm fuzzies about will take hours to play with....

First look, beautiful fig. I get why folks may want to polish him up, but for me I'm liking the smoked metal look and weathering. I'd swear the undersuit is a bit more chocolatey in color, but maybe that's the light. Great presence. First look at the sculpt - d**n HT did great. Did right by Pedro, great sculpt, beautiful paint (whew, yah never know with production work)
Will let everything warm up and play some more, I don't like working with figs/poly and accessories that are chilled off and maybe a bit brittle. And the wiring in the cloak is awesome. Another fig that just shows why Hot Toys can be like crack, just sucking you back in. HT is KILLING IT with the Mandos. I honestly wouldn't mind a second one, but the shelf may end up looking more like a store display.
