So you get a new collectible, it's an exciting time when it arrives and you open the packaging and commence with the unboxing :yess:

If its a figure you spend some time posing, dressing it, using the different accessories and so on. If it's a statue or bust you assemble it and decide where to place it.

You'll nearly always love it and treasure it in your collection, but for you how long do you admire it intently for before your attention turns to the next collectible you have on order or coming your way?

That depends on what it is, some stuff I get I unbox it pose it put it on a shelf and look at it from time to time. Other times I get it unbox it, display and then get bored and box it back up. Then somethings will get admired for years and never seem to get old, that does not happen often though.

5 seconds :lol
No I still marvel at my figures. I got Hot Toys Terminator 1984 Arnie a year ago and im still knocked out at how cool he looks, His clothes, his guns, and of course that awesome HS.

Hmmm..I dunno. Its not something I notice happening really. But I guess right from the off I find myself saying ''right, now y'know what figure will look great next to this?'' and onto the forums I go. I suppose straight away I'm thinking of new figures while looking at my latest acquisition.

You know, I was just thinking about this the other day. I realized that as soon as I place the figure in the shelve I go "Ok, what's next?" and go to the computer to check on new pre-orders. However, I always stop to admire them whenever I'm around them. I often sit on my "display room" and just stare at them while the tv is on or while I'm on the computer.

Not meant to be a ____ about it, but man why buy something if it's going to lose the reason you bought in 5 minutes.:dunno

Was that directed at me? Like I said, I still stop to admire them. They enhance the room to me and I enjoy having them around. The interest just get focused somewhere else once I have the figure in hand.

To all the collectors who said they pretty much get something and move on to the next pre-order.
I know we all collect for a variety of reasons but I don't understand buying something and moving on to the next new thing.

"After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true."

:exactly: This describes me to a T. Well put.

:goodpost:

For the price we pay for these things it really should be only about the item we just bought and not the next one too. They're not flash in the pan buy and regrets, but the hobby is about continuation.

Is it the chase or waiting thats more exciting, that the actual ptoduct?

I've seen FS threads for HT Superman by members who were chomping at the bit waiting and pleading for it :dunno

For me it's continuing to refine and perfect the collection. I have a check list, but every single check on that list is as important as the next.

Lasts about a week for me, fades then comes back when I repose the figure and switch out his accessories if it has some.

As for my one and only PF. I still admire it every time I walk into the room. It is literally at the center of my collection and for good reason.

It really depends on the piece. Some pieces just has that "IT" factor that makes it a timeless masterpiece.
