Hi, I am guessing this topic might have been debated before, if so, please direct me to the proper thread.

I am wondering what people are willing pay if sideshow upgrades their body?

Sideshow pretty much nailed the HS and outfit in the game. But I feel sideshow can upgrade their body. Of course, many people here have rejected that idea due to the possible price hike. I personally wouldn't mind paying more for a great sideshow product. (since PF are much more expensive already...) I am just wondering what would be a acceptable price point for something that's closer or match the quality of the top end body right now. ( I guess that would be HT's new generation life body)

Honestly at the rate the items are coming from SW and the fact I also collect LOTR not much more than $75-80.

I actually think that's a fair price, its basically like adding a HT body ($30) to a sideshow figure. and if it mass produced, its probably gonna be lower.

HT's aliens marine are priced at $80-90 with all their armors and weapons.

I personally think their tailoring needs just as much work as their bodies. If they improved those two areas to the level of HT and Medi, I'd probably go as high as $100.

in my mind the 12" SS figs are at their max for me. much more than they are and they'll cut into my PF collecting and that is not going to happen.

I wouldn't pay anything over what I pay now if all they did was change bodies. However I'd pay a lot more for more accurate and consistent head sculpts and better quality paint applications.

Honestly - I don't think it should increase in price. All things improve over time. I'd be surprised if R&D is not built into the price of things now. Unless it actually costs more to produce it - I don't see why it should cost more.

I don't believe that improvements to the basebody should have a huge impact upon cost. I understand that a lot goes into the creation and manuafacture of new bodies, but in reality it is something that needs to happen continually to keep the product competitive. I could see a small increase in price, $10 or so, but I would personally be bothered by much more than that.

And in all honesty I could see it turning off a great number of collectors to see a large price hike due to a better body. One of the (many) things Sideshow has going for it is very high quality pieces at an affordable price.

I totally agree. The higher things go the more likely it will force me and others out of buying nearly as much as we do.

I'd prefer to pay no more than we pay now. New bodies will be used on all 12" figures they make. In order to stay competative they need to updrage the body sooner or later. SW are already 60 dollars each they dont need to be more expensive.

I would pay (up to 15$) To have a better body. It's what turned me off from the line....mainly.If SS ever makes a body Improvement I'm back if not I'm not.(but under 20$ i think is fine any more it's too much)

One thing I think some people screaming for a new body don't understand that SS has several different sized bodies. I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap to redo them all.

Most of the other 1/6th scale companies have just 1 body that they use for every single figure.

But i would pay 5 bucks more for a new body.

Well, Hot Toys has serveral bodies. For example the massive body for their Terminator, the regular body, the skin body, etc. Hot Toys even came out with a new Generation body with different neck posts. Medicom has different bodies as well (even Dragon has different bodies). Sideshow will need to do these things to keep competitive with the rest of the 1/6 world. I would be happy if Sideshow would just up the quality control (loose joints, bad paint aps, etc). Hopefully, 2007 will be a great year for Sideshow. I personally like the company, but they need to release more figures than Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. It isn't the end of the world......of Warcraft. May be continue the Universal line, a new License, a new Jason, maybe do Indiana Jones perhaps. Hopefully Toy Fair will bring something new and exciting.:chew

Cheers :D

and not one of them is any good. I'd pay $5 too, but really they should improve their bodies at no extra cost to us.

Not one of them is any good? I don't know about that. Tweaking is needed I agree but they are good. For the most part I don't think anyone has had too many problems getting the poses for the SW figs or Aragorn from LOTR.

I actually wouldn't want to pay any extra money for a newer, improved body. But if the only way we'll ever get a better body is through an increase in price then I'll pay extra. I mostly only have Sideshow 12" figs and some HT figs. But when it comes to poses, Sideshow bodies just seem so stiff and unnatural (for the most part). Some poses look good, but most of them.....:monkey1

that's exactly what i mean CF.

maybe im spoiled or whatever, but for my personal tastes, I like a more natural and relaxed look to figures when they are posed. I dont know how to really describe it, but I guess following what CF said, that when a figure looks too "stiff" it just makes it look bad no matter how good the head sculpt is or how good the accesories are.

When a company can achieve a body that can be fluid and flow like a normal human body would, that's what really catches my eye first.

I see a lot of peoples pics of sideshow figs that look like they have something stuck up their ass.
