Since the new TDK figs i've had my V1 HT batman laying around getting slowly messed around into nonexistence. I decided since i really didn't need the suit on a body (may make the bat closet with the suit) i could use the nice black hot toys body for darth maul. It was basic process just swapped the head and costume and modded the hands and neck to fit the HT body and done, its not super noticable a difference especially in pictures you probably wont be able to tell much but in person its better. And he now has smoother articulation and the outfit is filled out better.

Here's how he was originally with the sideshow body, old pic but to compare:

I was almost tempted to give him the batman boots because even the stiffer v1 boots are more pliable than mauls original boots, i forgot how solid these things are, but ah well, accuracy comes first.

For the head swap i just yanked the sideshow head with its rounded bottom off the spring neck peg on the buck body, this left a big pocket in the little rounded bottom. I then just took the ball socket out of a HT neck, its a little rubber socket deal thats inside the necks and can be pulled out if you pop the neck apart, i just jammed that into the bottom of the maul neck and voila ht socket for the ball on the ht body and popped it on and bam its good to go.

Took some careful prying and jamming to do all of it but it works. Honestly the most time consuming part of the swap was dremelling out the peg holes on all his hands so they can be swapped on HT posts. Which incidentally allow for alot greater range of motion even with his big glove cuffs.

Thanks. :lol

Now all you need to do is swap that head out.

Add in the Medicom headsculpt, boots and gloves and it will be the ultimate 12" Maul.

Medicom's headsculpt looked NOTHING like Ray Park's portrayal as Maul. Maybe if the Gyro Captain from Road Warrior had played him.... As a matter of fact, that figure overall, is a nightmarish example of how to fail in a 1:6 representation:

Medicom Maul:

Sideshow Maul:

Additionally, as is the case with most of Medicom's releases, the hands are too small to even look remotely good on this kitbash (reminds me of the Burger King commercial where the guy with "freakishly small" hands can't eat a Whopper). Given what's available Magnuz, your Maul looks awesome.

The super duper fan rides again.

Medicom Maul kills that cheap SS hack job version of a Maul.:monkey1:monkey5

This is not the best pic of medicom Maul. This is not his chocolate Side ... I got 2 medicom Darth Maul Figs (1 to display him with robe and 1 without). They are so awesome. I am totaly happy with them. I don´t understand why he is so underrated ... The Medicom Maul is the best of all versions. I can say that, because I got em all (except the one from Diamond in 1/4 scale).

This from the queen of Medicom apologists. Chavez, if you had half a clue, you'd only have half a clue.

Show me a good pic of the Medicom Maul without the robe. He's not underrated, he blows. He's nothing short of a crackfiend giraffe and a mark of shame on Medicom. Initially, when I got mine, I was stoked... took him out of the box, tried desperately for about an hour to find any redeeming qualities for the figure, cursed myself for spending that much money on such a POS, and put him back in the box.

This is your opinion ... Repected ! It is all about taste ...

These pics are from Medi World.

To get back to Topic, the HT/SS Kitbash looks good. Maybe I will do the same.

I think the effects used in the photo are great. But let's be honest. I see lighting and effects used to cleverly disguise an otherwise horrible action figure. Same pic with the lights on? Yeah, didn't think so. And there's a majority of the freaks on this board, who agree. Here's the Medi Maul thread. Watch how everyone talks about how cool it is, until they get it...:rotfl (Medicom Darth Maul thread)

And FYI: That's MaulFan's modified Maul in the images you used. He talks about how he modified it in that very thread. And here's what he had to say about it:

I still have my nits about this figure, but post-futzing, it's pretty nice, but I can't say I'd ever promote it without modifications.

I say let the undoctored pics I posted speak for themselves.

In yo face beyotch!! :lol

And it still doesn't change the fact that you still don't have a clue. But hey, if a thought did pass between those ears of yours, it'd be the quickest trip in Chi-town! :lol

Yeah I paded the shoulders on mine too. Thats no big deal. I believe its easy to pad up the shoulders, but its difficult to repaint or resculp the HS.

I know that the Medicom pics of the HS are from a prototype, but i think the one we got isn´t that different. What do you think ?

I'd have to go to storage and pull mine out to compare. But frankly, I could've lived with a pseudo-likeness here where it's not exact, but they get the concept down (like they did with Jango and Luke) if that'd been all. But overall, it was the total combination that upset me. The head sculpt wasn't even close to Ray Park, more like Peter Weller from RoboCop. Good paint, but too thin and starved. The anorexic/lanky body was a stark contrast to Parks' shorter, more muscular body. And that neck made him look like he enjoys eating acacia leaves from the tops of trees like other giraffe. While the robe was nice, the outfit was cheaply done. Don't get me started on the Hasbro-ish saber... Even MaulFan swapped out his MediCom belt and saber with Sideshow's for those pics. Now when you take all of that into consideration along with one of the most fragile and unforgiving bodies in 1:6 scale, it just didn't seem anywhere near the $150 price mark. And not even in the same ballpark compared to their other Star Wars releases. I was more disappointed by Maul than I was the ROTS Vader and he was a straight-up turd.
