Re: The Dark Knight New Costume PHOTO Thread.
That last one is killer with the cape flying. Truly stunning.
Thanks, as I was taking photos, I got to thinking about how I'd love to photograph him on the pod and it occurred to me that I could use cropping of my shot to shoot the figure by himself and still get the angles and such I'd want to of Batman on the pod without it. I could get other shots with the pod, but at least the ones I care about most can be done without it. If the pod were like $150, I'd get it in a heartbeat, but at it's price, and knowing myself as a collector, when I was done having my photo fun with it, I'd eventually regret it, thankfully I've got a work around. It will anger me if the pod includes a wired cape though, it'd be a great feature with or without the pod and I'd consider it another non-collector-friendly move by Hot Toys.
As for the mod supporters, sorry to let you down but I will not be doing it. I admire those brave enough to do it, and I agree the little bit of extra material at the waist isn't the greatest looking thing, but I really haven't dug the way he looks after a lot of the mods I've seen and I'm not going to risk damaging a pricey figure that means a lot to me for one slight modification when 90% of the figure looks fantastic and suits my every need as a collector.
Of all my Batman 1/6 figures, (Takara BB, HT BB, Keaton Custom, HT TDK) this is my favorite. The poseability of this figure is fantastic. If they'd achieved this poseability with their Begins figure, I'd probably vote that more, but this figure is just a lot of fun. I wish the colors on the suit were a bit less accurrate and more like the proto pictures, kinda dug all that, but all in all, still very happy with what Hot Toys rolled out. It made me very happy I could replicate the theatrical poster with this figure, it's probably one of my all-time favorite movie poster images, just something about it, which is why I have it hanging in my room, and it felt good to be able to very easily plop the figure into it. I set the figure up for the shot and with minimal futzing, I happened to stick him right in a perfect spot that my room light fell right where it needed to, one of the easiest times I've ever had trying to matching lighting on a figure to lighting from a photo.
