OH MY GOD!!!!

Why oh why didn't I buy 10 Balrog statues!?!?!?

I'da been a Gazillionaire!
:google

Hey! This reminds me of a joke I recently heard:
Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing.
He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching
as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"
:D

Heh Heh .. Thanks Bodie. I wanted additional categories to show extreme levels of recent movement, and thought I'd have a little fun with it. :D

For those who like details, the arrows are reporting how very recent sales are comparing to the "value". My main value number may remain high even if recent sales are plummeting, because it remembers the history of value. Vice versa, it is cautious and doesn't get carried away the other direction either with just a couple exceptionally high recent sales. The "last 15 days" and "last 5 sales" subcategories are where the real action is at, and how they compare (averaged if both exist) to the value determines what arrow icon is shown. Within 2.5% plus or minus, is stable (horizontal blue arrow). From 2.5% to 7.5% is a single up or down arrow. From 7.5% to 17.5% is the double arrow for rapid appreciation/depreciation. Above or below this level is where the new flaming icons kick in, labeled "Crash and Burn" or "En Fuego". Of course, since it is relative to past history a crashing Balrog is still likely to cost you more than a super-hot dying Harad (for example). :winkpumpk

Hey, Spaceman, I never had a chance to thank you for the site. I adore it and find it hugely useful, so THANK YOU.

One question -- do you plan to expand to cover SS's recent expansions of their lineup, like Marvel as a separate category, SW 12" and LOTR PF and 12"? And perhaps Weta Collectibles and their Kong and Narnia stuff?

I realise it's all a lot of work and you're spoiling us all rotten. Cheers again!

Correct, but watch out when the 1/4 line hits for "hot" items that really aren't doing that well. Lurtz is "En Fuego" right now, but he just picked up a bit of $450+ help from his big brother- the 1/4 Exclusive.

Gandalf, Frodo, etc. could start similar trends.

Hey Thanks VERY much Seretur. I love to hear it!

YES, I plan a full revamp of the Sideshow area. LOTR and Starwars will each get well-deserved full categories, in light of the new product lines. I'll also be able to implement careful separation of exclusives from standard releases. In view of the highly distinct prices they command, this is essential. It was not within the capabilities of my program to do that (not enough inclusive/exclusive keywords available at that time) when I first set up the Sideshow area, but I dramatically expanded the functionality when adding the Master Replicas tracking. As many versions of sabers that they manufacture with variations and in differing styles, it was essential. I'll retroactively apply that to Sideshow. This will be a major overhaul, and actually needs to go hand in hand with the upcoming user-reporting system for missorts, simply because the major revision/cleanup should be implemented before I ask users to help with the minor glitches. :peace

A very good point elwood. I think the previous statement addresses most of your question, but I definitely need to put some protections in place in the meantime. I'll take a look tomorrow.

Enjoy!

Spaceman, big kudos for all your hard work & creativity in setting-up/maintaining this auction tracker site :bow

Do you have plans to further improve your program to exclude the "damaged items" or "reserve amount not met" from computation of the average value, last 15 days or last 5 sales ???

Sounds excellent, Spaceman -- especially the user feedback, because you can't honestly be expected to physically check every single transaction there, now can you? Oh, the site is just going to get better and better. (And yes, the Master Replicas section is coming in quite handy already, thank you so much!)

Thanks Mannix & Seretur.

I am definitely cutting out the "reserve not met" as was the majority opinion from a thread a couple weeks back. This will be part of the user reporting, as well as a "damaged" or "incomplete" flag. How to deal with those auctions though I haven't decided. Probably, they will stay in the "averages" but will have a special icon to mark their status. Then you can cut them yourself with the "custom average" tool if desired. I don't think I'll want to remove the records altogether though.

Love the new arrows Spaceman !.:banana :banana
More importantly thanks for such a great site and your hard work in setting it up. :clap :clap
I am a regular visitor to the site and always keep a check on the latest trends in value of an item.
Isn't it about time the Balrog and Cavetroll had a flaming red arrow pointing down showing rapid depreciation in value. Wish i had bought these two bad boys when i had the chance.
When i first started collecting i could of bought them for £330 each at my Forbidden Planet store but as i had only just started i thought the better deal would be to buy 5 or 6 staues and busts for the same amount of money and get the collection growing quickly instead of having just one item on display.
New collector....naive.....quantity over quality...boy was i stupid !!.
If i had known then what i know now it would have been a different story.

Thank you for all of your efforts. The site is a remarkable tool that I have been using for some time. I am looking foward to your additions and edits.

Thanks Guys, I definitely appreciate it. :peace

A lot of my work on the site lately has been "behind the scenes", but the more visible changes I've hinted at are definitely on the way. Slowly but surely! ;)
