[vader voice] NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! [/vader voice]

How could they let that slide? That's HUGE a huge mistake. Venom is 2 villians - Eddie Brock and the Symbiote, that's one of the things that makes Venom so interesting.

Why couldn't they just leave Venom out of this movie?

totally agreed, but i think raimi had to put venom in the movie to keep it fresh for another sequel. as great as the movies are, don't you think they are getting carried away?? im totally for more spiderman movies--- as long as they don't turn out like the batman or superman movies. i still want to see the lizard, kraven, and scorpion. however they might not translate into life that great so i was happy when i heard about venom. i don't hate what they've done with him because it had to be somewhat feaseable. however, the attitude, personality, and charisma should've been cloned from the comics.

I've been expecting all along to see Venom for about two minutes at the very end. Sounds like that's pretty much what we're getting.

And we know Raimi was never a fan of Venom in the first place, so he could probably care less about how accurate the portrayal is. His minor presence in the movie is just kind of a bone thrown to the fans at the request of the producers.

That's exactly what I thought when I left the theater. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think there will be a sequel.

Where did you hear that? But I wouldn't doubt it, there goal is to make $$$.

Alot of the 'good' reviews are coming from people who never even read the comics. Sounds liek Venom is a disapointment.

Of course I live in the good ol' US and A and haven't seen Spidey 3 yet.

But with what I've heard, Venom shows up close to the end and doesn't have much build up AS Venom (not just as Eddie Brock).Plus, perhaps Brock hasn't learned exactly that much about his "other" by that point in the movie and is using the symbiote more as a tool to kill Spidey than he has to truely understand it like he did in the comics. Which is why he says "I" instead of "We".

I am sure that if they do a sequel, perhaps Venom will be in it and at a point where he is more developed and fleshed out,and Brock by then might be saying "We" as well.

Hey DarkSpidey,

I have one question and one question only: does Venom die?

**SPOILER**
It says Eddie Brock dies in the novelization, but I just want to check and make sure it's true.;)

this is based on a comic. even if he dies, he can be reborn by any number of ways. hoooorah for hollywood!

I totally agree. And I'm not worried about Venom... I remember being pissed about the Green Goblin. But as soon as I saw the movie it all melted away. Yeah, the costume bugged me, but what can you do?

The movie will have it's issues, I'm sure... but I'm just happy to see some of that classic symbiote story on the screen.

I can't wait to see it, maybe I'll go with my brothers when I get back home from college this weekend. I'm really excited about the game too, I can't wait to play it. I hope the PC version doesn't suck.

How similar are Sideshow's busts, statues, etc to the Venom design in the film? If it looks just like Sideshow's, I'd be fine with it.

Raimi was very vocal about how he wasn't a fan of Venom and felt the character lacked depth. He'd been talking about it since SM2 when people were dying for Venom to make an entrance after the success of SM1. Its definitely for marketing and to please a few fans but I won't expect anything spectacular on the Venom side. Either way if he looks anything like the toys and statues It'll please that side of me....or us.....lol. :D

I won't spoil so I'll answer you by PM

i jus cam back watching it. its on singapore's 4k screen projector - supposedly the clearest quality, but looks the same to me...
anyway here's my 2 cents:
- i love the guy playing sandman- great actor - his story his really great.
- i stil don get why that guy was chosen to play eddie brock
- venom looks pathetic except when his fighting - was disappointing to me
- sandman's special effects didnt appeal to me. its nice but i didnt love it
- the fight at the end was great - really
- much of the story was bits here and there. other storyline building up to the scene kinda takes up space so don think u know the story jus by watching those clips online.
- that girl playing gwen is GORGEOUS. really pretty
- they played symbiotic parker, i repeat parker really different than i expected
- i think tobey is cute for someone age 30ish looking 18ish
- the fights and special effects are no doubt by far the best of the 3
- i can proudly admit, i'm a wuss but i cried...HARD at the end...wont say why unless someone ask..
-
all in all it was the best of the 3, really played on comedy (some really funny moments - jjj scenes..), action packed (the fights) and the drama (never expected to cry in a spiderman movie- but i did)

final note, i don think there will be a part 4...in my opinion

With the disappointments I am hearing about Venom, it sounds to me I will be making this a matinee feature.

I don't understand what difference it makes to the movie whether you go to see it in the middle of the day or at night?

There's less people there in the middle of the day, so won't that make the flick more enjoyable if you don't have to push and shove your way through the crowd:confused:.

Anyway I'm still excited about SM3, I didn't anticipate we'd see much of Venom to be honest from what I've read.

And I agree with what others have said, in a perfect world, Venom should've taken centre stage in the movie like Green Goblin and Dr Octopus did in the first two, these characters are strong enough to carry a movie alone and don't need another villain to back them up.

I also think Harry would've been better in a movie with the Hobgoblin as well and then the movie could've focused on the Osborn Legacy, rather than being spliced in with all this Sandman/Venom/Symbiote stuff.

But like I said that's a perfect world, I'm still excited about this franchise and think it's got miles to go before it runs it's course.

Shame more Sandman products weren't released though, given the fact he's gonna essentially be the main villain in the movie.

Huh. Sony already confirmed a Spidey 4 so if Raimi closed this out so there wouldn't naturally be one that's going to be interesting to see how they open the next.....I'm starting to get a little nervous about this. Either way I've already Fandango'd my ticket for Friday, got my SM1 Spider-Man shirt ready (the Spider emblem is totally off in comparison to any of the film spiders but I like it) and am waiting to see it myself.:D

I think its the whole Matinees cost less joke running rampant. Matinees in my area cost $7.00...standard time features run $12.00 so if a movie doesn't look that good but I still want to see it or I hear bad review you make the Matinee joke.

As for merchandising, I have a feeling we haven't yet seen the full blitz of the SM3 waves just yet. Hopefully there is more Sandman in the pipe....you never know MediCom could still shock and announce one over the summer...
