So people are selling a favorite figure because 1 person has had issues with slight cracking?

I won’t do that but it feels like this line is faltering in terms of releases. Ken has been a year since pre-order with no updates for ages, is he not just the same body as Ryu? And I heard Lord Turel left the company?
I get the concern, and I'm sorry to bring that to the table here. I'm never the first one to have problems with a figure, so this is new to me. I live in Canada where the weather is pretty optimal for these types of seamless figures, but still one has to be careful about how they are posed. Ken is the same body type as Ryu yes, aside from a skin tone change. Akuma uses the same body as well. They are producing multiple figures at the same time though (Muhammad Ali just released, as well as Pyramid head & Dead nurse from Iconiq as well) so their time is divided. I wish we could see Chun Li.

Edit: where did you hear that last part? As far as I was aware, he was the company owner?

I’m glad you did bring it to our attention. I was waiting for something like this to happen to the figures because I’ve always had my doubts about their longevity. When one of the guys from Iconiq Studios promised live on stream, that the bodies wouldn’t crack and fall apart, I took the leap and bought the figure.

I’d rather sell it while it’s worth something, rather than be stuck with a cracked, broken mess of a figure that I paid $350 for. These figures are like mogwais. I just want something I can put on my shelf and dust once a month. Set it and forget it.

I think Iconiq should address these issues, if there are in fact issues. However, at the very least, I think they should offer this body for purchase so that people can replace the bodies. I wonder if someone could come up with a gap filler silicone that could be mixed and pushed into the cracks. Then, it could dry and bond with the surrounding material to basically "repair" the area. Is that even possible?

I haven't had my Ryu out of the box since I purchased it, and now I'm afraid to display it. Also, located in Canada.

All this talk had me check out my Ryu. Mine is still doing just fine. No signs of wear or damage. I haven't kept him in any extreme poses and my display is in a temperature-controlled room, so that might be helping. Hope those with him have longevity and these issues are hopefully merely outliers.

This was the pose that caused the crack 😑😭 his right arm (with the fist) was "too close" to his body, causing stress. I'd consider this a museum pose almost, I really thought it was safe. Though the cracks on mine are barely noticeable, I just worry that they may get worse, yknow? Fixing them is almost out of the question because AFAIK there's no real solution to mending this material. I tried superglue on a M35 before and it closed the gap, yea, but excess glue poured out of the "wound" and its caused a shiny substance on top of the skin. I don't think that should be my game plan here so I'll probably just leave it alone

Yeah, it's probably better to just leave it and hope the cloth products cover anything that could crack.

Your pose is about as museum as you can get without looking absurd. Did you push the arms downwards at all or is this how it was out of the box?

True, but I actually think he looks better shirtless lol :monkey4

This is the day I got him. I swear the arm is in the same pose as he left the box 😪
This is a more clear pic of the pose I had him in lol

I'm gonna email iconiq but I already feel there's nothing really they will do. Worth a shot anyways

I've been posing mine in dynamic poses since release and have no problems, it is on your side... The sun seems to also shine on your figure which is not good

I wish I could say the same lol
I pulled him forward for the pic so the sun would shine on him, but then placed him back and closed the curtains, so it wasn't every day the sun shines on him, just for the photo, but at this point all I can say is... it is what it is

Let us all know when you get a response and what the response is. I bet there are a lot of people that would get piece of mind if they respond well.

If they won't stand behind the product, I feel like some people will either cancel their current orders or avoid making them.

Because 1 owner has kept his figure in suboptimal conditions and has had slight cracking? Doubt it.

What does ‘it is what it is’ mean anyway?

Climate controlled, dehumidified, dust proof display case, out of the sun except for a photo, and museum posed, but sure the conditions were "suboptimal". 🥱

The only thing suboptimal here is the material TBLeague is using for their bodies.

What does ‘it is what it is’ mean anyway?
It is exactly as it is written. It is what it is. I've acknowledged it and I've moved on.

A bit presumptuous to say a collector has kept their figure in sub optimal conditions simply because they're the only person to document the issue online and the figure was in sunlight for one photo. I'm personally very pleased that you posted, as Iconiq implied this couldn't happen, but here is a case of it happening with a figure in a museum pose for a very short period of time. For all we know, multiple people have experienced this, but they aren't forum or social media users.

Read through the last few pages mate.

Also, did Iconiq imply this couldn’t happen, or did they say they’d tested thoroughly for months without any cracking issues? Think it’s important to get the facts straight.

There are many factors at play. Iconiq’s materials aren’t exclusive to just the Street Fighter line. I have figures from them now that have lasted years with no cracking or damage in the slightest. I know many with similar longevity and no issues. Others have posted their figures experiencing damage out of the box. There’s mishandling, botched production, room and temperature conditions, sun exposure, humidity, dust, and even chemical reactions from handling, lack of maintenance, and natural aging, among other factors, that all affect longevity. And one or two bad cases doesn’t mean the majority have issues either. There are unsatisfied 1-Star reviews on every product.

I can only attest that my figures are going strong, no issues, and I’ll report something the moment that changes. But I’m not freaking out and cancelling my next preorder. I’m currently quite satisfied on my end and sincerely hope the issue reported was a simple factory defect within the margins of expectations.

I finally managed to find one under 500. If anyone here wants one, I know a 2nd person that is selling one on the hottoys reddit that asked me after I already bought one.
