InArt - Harry Potter 1/6 Collectible Figure

I always found it interesting ppl who would buy multiples of the same figure to display the potential different looks the figure is possible to have with it's included accessories rather than just displaying it one way for a time, then use those parts to switch up the display at a later time. To me, that's part of the fun of having so many extra accessories. That's sort of why the idea of two packs is a little strange to me unless the second is something entirely different. Like with the TDK Joker, even if InArt wanted to still included the Jail set up, I don't feel there was a need for an entirely second figure when I can just take the coats off and swap the arms myself

Why *do* some people hate on InArt? I mean, do they hate them out of a sense of loyalty (watching their team get royally tea-bagged by a new team that just entered the league)? Did they sink a lot of money into grails that are no longer grails because a vastly superior version is now available? Do they just hate quality in general and wish things would go back to mediocre? Were they not hugged enough as children?

Joking aside, I am actually getting a little concerned about InArt and its clear trend toward rising prices. I paid 480 pp for Aragorn which looks to be an astounding, nearly perfect figure and, while Harry also looks extremely good, is it truly worth over a $120 more than Aragorn? I really want to support InArt but they are rapidly approaching a price point where I will be unwilling to do so.

Honestly, I think these all might be legitimate reasons especially the loyalty thing for whatever reason and the tea bagging . I've seen many people not even give them a chance and just trash on them. Don't really understand, as I still love Hot Toys and look forward to their releases as well. I think the rooted InArt is a few steps above and the sculpted is pretty much on par with Hot Toys, or maybe slightly above because of materials.

The Harry Potter release was higher than I expected, but I also didn't expect it to come with a statue diorama base. That base is the distinct reason for such a large price difference beyond the rooted hair. The standard is $335-$355 shipped and very affordable. For people that like and want representation of Harry Potter but aren't in love with that franchise, then this is a perfect option. That's exactly why I purchased the standard TDK Joker. $1100-1200 for a two pack with a diorama is not what I needed for Joker, so I went with a $380 standard sculpted. So many people love that character and that's what they wanted. I like the character so standard was good enough for me.

I think they should have released 4 SKU's for Potter to sell it better. Should have been standard $300-325, deluxe rooted $400-425, standard w/base $450-475, and deluxe w/base $550-575. This IP probably means more to me than any others so even with all of these options, I would have still went with the highest option of deluxe w/ base.

I completely understand why you and others don't want to spend that highest option, but don't want the sculpted. There is no option in between, comparable with TDK rooted Joker, and that sucks. Context of what's offered in each release is needed for comparability reasons. That has often been neglected when comparing InArt. Whether it's $1,000 for "a" figure (actually 2 rooted figures and diorama base), or $300 HT Batman vs $500 InArt Batman (actually $345 shipped HT sculpted Batman vs $360 shipped InArt sculpted Batman) we have to break down and actually compare the context of what's being offered.

A lot of people -- and I mean alot -- still hate rooted hair, even at this level. They scream for sculpted. So no wonder InArt makes rooted a "premium".

I don't know why so many don't like rooted. Maybe for the consistency of their sculpted collection, maybe they fear having to 'brush' it (but undressing a doll is OK)... or simply its just too much money. Same people usually want real metal guns though, for the reality, which is weird.

I personally have a hard time buying another representation of the same character in general. Even if it's a completely different costume/outfit. I believe HP will be one exception for me, like if they release a Quidditch version or any other years.

Same. I don’t think I’d even want a quidditch version to be honest. I’ll take an older version though I would probably end up selling the younger version

Yeah I see how rooted hair becomes a strong subject with these. So many people probably feel scorned with how some have become over the years. Saw this scary thing on ebay:

I currently only have two rooted figures with GOTG2 Gamora and Golden Armor WW84. I actually like Gamora's hair better than others have. WW has given me a few signs that scare me with her hair.

Well, like anything, of course the hair has to be well-done... just like the face itself or the tailoring. Plenty of examples of bad sculpts, terrible tailoring and, yes, crummy rooted hair.

But when you see something like InArt's rooted hair, I just can't understand why some would shy away and refuse the future. It's like someone in 2008 saying no to HT's superior tailoring (at the time). "nope, I like the baggy fit and oversized buttons, count me out!"

Currently, yes. I'm trying to break that mold for me as I do think it's needed, but I struggle with it.

I limit how many figures I purchase in a year to about 10-12. When I try to purchase a second look of a character, I struggle with well this could be an entirely new character I can get on my shelf. I have many times ordered a second spider-man and iron man to only end up canceling at the first delay notice. I'm currently trying now to get a second Iron Man with the D100 version ordered. I will see if I can stick with it

Very true. I see a big difference in InArt's rooted that screams excellence. Even in their tailoring. For me, it's hard to not get behind what they are doing and trying.

I have two Vaders. I don't know why, they're essentially the same when I see them across the room. I have four Lukes. A couple Indiana Jones. A shitload of Bonds. Too many Boba Fetts.

Thankfully, that remains the extent of repeats. And I have a large collections covering a lot of franchises so I guess that's not too bad. I'm a sucker for the franchises I grew up with.

Yea I understand that for sure. I may only have 1 of the ones you previous mentioned but I have multiples when it comes to transformers, 2 of Indiana Jones, I’m slowly putting together multiple Bonds, I’ll have 3 Vaders (ANH, OWK, ROTJ) as well as multiples of other SW like Obiwan and Anakin, Batmen, etc. But, I am trying to weed out other ones I got that on a whim, for a good deal and/or got caught up in hype.

To bring it back to Harry Potter, my best friend already told me to sell all my Star Ace figures now before InArt makes any other characters, so those are now on the chopping block as well.

Unfortunately I didn't find this wonderful world of 1/6th scale much later than I would have been able to be involved. Who knows, I may have been in that same boat if I had been collecting these just as long as you. There is so much I have missed out on, and so far I have refused to collect backwards.

If I had Bezos money, I'd buy everyone here who hates sculpted hair a rooted Harry Potter so they can see what they've been missing.
