****.. What happened?

I won't be able to inspect my figure until the end of the month probably.

I'm terrified.
my issue was one I haven't seen anyone else say, but the tip of the sword was chipped off in the package. no idea what could have caused that to happen.

Edit: I wouldn't worry too much @Scout Trooper even with that issue this figure is one of my all time favorites.

I haven't heard Gipetto's opinion on this.

But this is as good as it gets for licensed figures. If you're going in with higher expectations, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. (Unless it's a QC problem).

Inart's QC keeps me up at night.
Totally fair. I just think certain collectors have insane and unreasonable standards set for themselves with INART figs, which will lead to disappointment. Like you said, it’s as good as it gets for a licensed (mass produced) figure, despite inaccuracies or other design flaws they may have.

INART’s QC is an issue no doubt. They need to standardize their QC processes across all factories they employ. And it seems like they're not all in check yet.

The @Gipetto0812 standard. I’d love to know what those are for mass production.
I haven't said anything about being dissatisfied with this Aragorn figure which is what @Scout Trooper was referencing, not other figures. Just b/c I agreed with a lot of Brett's points, doesn't mean I don't like this release. Heck, I spent hours redoing the hair on this figure :dunno And I mentioned that I was thankful I didn't get any QC problems with this figure.

Harry Potter was the one I expected more from since I did have QC issues (regardless if they are perceived by others as minor or otherwise); though, I've mentioned in that thread that I've come around on it after spending more time on it.

TDK Joker I've been disappointed with since the get go and still am. I'm only keeping for the accessories and the thought of getting the heads redone.

I've had an overall positive impression of Superman and have said as much in my review despite having to scrub that paint off the eyeballs along with a few other things that aren't great on it.

Just b/c you're more forgiving of the QC issues that some of us have experienced, doesn't make them any less valid of a reason(s) for being disappointed with what we're receiving when they occur.

I’m aware Scout is referencing Aragorn in particular, but the sentiment he referenced can essentially be applied to all INART figures, IMO.

And I should’ve expanded, but this goes out to anyone and everyone, not specifically singling you out.

I do think some collectors have an even higher standard which of course, is a set up for failure ending with disappointment.

as an aside @Gipetto0812 do you have any pics of your old MoS custom? been thinking about getting that figure done.

While I agree with that, I also think the price that InArt are charging set themselves up as the premiere 1/6 figure company and therefore bring out that higher expectation among collectors, myself included.. What I've finding and am adjusting to for my opinion of them are that to me I'm not finding them that much better than HT if at all in some cases; so, I need to lower my expectations which I think helped in my overall impression with BvS Superman. Though, I do like their finer, more human paint apps at least for HP and BvS Sups headsculpts vs the sort of more blanket production paint apps HT tend to do for every human character.

Thanks for asking about it! Sent you a PM with all the info/pics I have :duff
In the wise words of Sven the Reindeer from Frozen: “You feel what you feel, and your feelings are real.”

That is, unless you have a negative opinion/experience with a doll that someone else loves. Then your feelings are insane/unreasonable/hyperbolic lol.
Ha! I think I'm definitely seen as the more unreasonable one when in comes to InArt but that's fine.

Price they’re charging set themselves? So prices that are basically in the same ballpark and either slightly above or in line with Hot Toys pricing, right? Standard sculpted Aragorn was only $335 including tax and overseas shipping costs/fees/etc. That’s slightly more than a typical Hot Toys SCULPTED figure. Why expect more from INART when they’re not even that much more than Hot Toys? We can also compare comparable rooted standalone sets if you’d like and in some cases, DXAE releases are even more pricey than INART sets, respectively.

You can perceive them how you want all day long, but it’s a bit disingenuous imo, at how you/people make it seem, IMO. The price-to-value is much greater with INART than Hot Toys, IMO. But I get it, MMV and we all have different standards and opinions.

Speaking for myself when Queen Studios announced they were entered 1:6 territory I was excited because I knew the quality Queen was doing with their Busts. And seeing how great their Artist Edition 1:4 Joker was and it being the closest example to 1:6. My expectations soared. The the proto of the 1:6 TDK hit. And I was thinking this will definitely light a fire under HT ass (and it has). But admittingly my excitement and expectations tempered some with the final product. Even though it's still the best 1:6 TDK Joker I have had in hand. I never felt the need to go stupid custom money's on the Joker. It scratched that itch fine enough for me.

But through the 6 InArt figures I have in the collection, I've come to the realization that they are about on the same level as HT just with real hair and a smidgen better scaling and tailoring IMO.

They may not be leaps and bounds better but still a I'd give them the edge...

QC issues aside. And while we will never see a direct comparison with a HT Aragorn or Gandalf because HT refuses to bother themselves with this license, I feel the InArt Joker is still the overall better figure over HT Artisan attempt.

And this is just the begining. If they can iron out the QC issues and tighten up the variations in production for some of these releases (Agagorn) I dont see why they wouldn't/couldn't be "the best". Time will tell on that.

I mean really. If InArt Argaorn is Caveman Jesus. Then what on Earth do we call the two Asmus Attempts? Or the ACI? Cave Troll Jesus?

I mean really. 😆
Thank you for saying this, I was holding myself from typing the same sentence.. 👌
I just don't want to be the sole suspect if something bad happens to Andy.

Well, I was. And I can't say my latest experience will be the same as yours. I was dreading the arrival of #2. Not to mention the shipping was slower, took about 18-20 days.

And I haven't been in this thread, so I don't know what's going on or even if this fig is still for sale. Busy, busy.....

Anyway a completely out of the box pic, thinking "am I going to get *&^% hair again?"

Aragorn_second.jpg

In hand tho, at least first look sculpt and body, no real complaints. After all, I knew what I was getting more or less. This pic isn't the most flattering but this is REALLY out of the box and no time for anything else and the fig is way too cold anyway from being outside.

Or, at least the person who rooted this one IMO was putting their back into it. Trying hard, so thanks to that nameless production line person.:clap It's good enough of a look that outside of maybe cutting a few bangs (or not) I think I'll just leave it. Plenty of product, the right kind of wave, more or less Amon Hen/Helm's Deep looking e.g. sort of wet-tish. Thankfully longish.

Now I just need the Ranger cloaks. LOL now I have a fluffy hair Aragorn and a wet head Aragorn. I can't do anything else until tomorrow and everything warms up.

Good luck to anyone waiting, terrible time for shipping with the holidays etc.
