Here's some new info I recently found. Looking forward to this one (finally...):

Indiana Jones Returns!

A fourth Indiana Jones installment to film in 2007, release in 2008; Lucas, Spielberg, Ford all on board.

Is George Lucas going to do to the Indiana Jones trilogy what he did to the original Star Wars? There have been rumors circulating for years now about a fourth installment in the blockbuster action-adventure franchise, and now the Associated Press confirms that a fourth Indy will indeed begin filming in 2007, with all the key players aboard—Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and star Harrison Ford.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Lucas will produce and Spielberg will direct the project, which is set to hit theaters in 2008. Spielberg—who has been developing several new projects—has decided to make this his next directorial effort. "George, Harrison and I are all very excited," says the director. "We feel that the script was well worth the wait. We hope it delivers everything you'd expect from our history with Indiana Jones." Meanwhile, Lucas is similarly enthusiastic: "It's going to be fantastic. It's going to be the best one yet."

The film's plot remains a secret, but the final script is the work of David Koepp, who also wrote Spider-man, Jurassic Park, and War of the Worlds.

Well, looking at how much time they plan to spend on it I would guess there won't be much visual effects involved, probably most of the time will be spent filming and editing with a few visual effects added, just like the first ones.

WTH?

Does that mean that George Lucas is making another Star Wars movie? And what exactly does 'Star Wars Spinoff' mean? I mean, if it is related to the movies and in the same universe, it's Star Wars.

The story almost makes it sound like Lucas brought that up first to make HF more likely to agree to doing Indy again...but I would think HF wouldn't be fooled by that.

$47 million?? Can that possibly be accurate? I thought 20-25 mil was still the top salary range in Hollywood.... Or am I that far behind the times?

Ungrateful actor. No one would have even heard of Harrison Ford if not for Han Solo. He certainly wouldn't have gotten the Indy gig if not for Solo.

I know Lucas approached Mark Hamil about a one shot Star Wars sequel in the 90s that never developed. Makes sence that he might consider a Han Solo movie.

I think the spinoff logic fits. Lucas has said that he's closed the book on the story of the Skywalker family -- which is what he considers the Star Wars saga to be. So any other films/TV shows, etc. would be spinoffs by that reasoning.

I agree the logic fits, but if that's the case it sounds like Lucas is trying to find a loophole in his own statements. I remember hearing at one time that Star Wars was supposed to be a 9 part saga. This was way back before the prequels had even started filming.

That whole article sounds iffy - a Han Solo SW spin-off? And 47 mil is an odd number, although I guess it's possible. Cruise, Carrey, Travolta, Ford, Willis - all used to command 20+ salaries, but 47 seems just a little bit out there.

And if that's what he's getting, how much did they pay him to sign the MR Falcons?

Well, much of what happens after ROTJ is about the Solo family so that would make sense. But I guess if they don't follow what happens with him and Leia and their kids they could easily follow Luke with Mara Jade and Ben Skywalker. Anyways, really looking forward to another Indiana Jones movie, it will probably do really well. I wonder if they've considered if they will do more than one? That could also be the cause of the $47 million if he signed up for more than one.

I think the high Millions could be because George knows Ford doesn't want to be connected with Star Wars as much as possible, but thought making double what today's leading actors are might have changed his mind. Guess not. I'm surprised he has signed anything Star Wars related! I'm just glad his likeness was included with the Star Wars license or else I don't think there would be ANY Han Solo stuff anymore.

Lets just hope Lucas knows he can turn to Sideshow for Indy figures! :D

I heard that, too. I remember Lucas saying that the droids were going to be in all nine and that Hamil would only return in a cameo or as a different character. I figure Lucas must have decided the best he could do would be a one shot sequel reuniting the Jedi Council and rethought bringing back Luke. Still don't know why it didn't get off the ground.

I get that feeling, too.
