At some point, a film needs good "word of mouth" to survive.

And, on that specific basis, it has to be able to stand on it's own merits, with all other issues pushed aside.

There are some industry wide issues that hurt IJ-DOD, much like it hurt other big films, and the Big Mouse has no control over that. However there are also things that can be controlled, and with a very thin margin of error, they were simply not handled in the best way possible.

I don't agree with all the "outrage ****" I see, which is just another way for self proclaimed pundits to monetize themselves on specific platforms, but they don't have the outsized influence that you are projecting here.
What am I projecting here? Why am I even replying at all? Movie was fun, you get attacked for saying that. The end. Have a nice night.

Another reference for just the old...

Yup. The funny thing is, it's not rocket science.

I think the stats they've shown are about 80% of viewers are over 45.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. And that same demographic will probably go out and pick up a copy of the Blu-ray (the dreaded physical media) in a few months despite the fact that DoD will be available for viewing in perpetuity on Disney+. Heck, they might sell enough of those to actually turn a profit on this little Indie Indy film lol.

We all love different things, my friend. I wish you well. We are part of the same community here and the common love of the toys binds all of us here together.

I'd say six months ago someone about a mile from me just put out stuff for free on the sidewalk that they couldn't move in a yardsale. Found a M.A.S.K. Venom Switchblade in pretty good loose condition. So that's something all of us here likely have in common, finding that cool "score" from time to time.

If you enjoyed DOD, I'm glad you liked it.

For those of you that were floating on that river in Egypt, all I will do is quote the eloquent words of Funboy:

"This is the really real world. There ain't no comin back. There ain't no comin back. There ain't no comin back..."

Geriatric Jones isn't even going to walk(ing frame) its way to the analysts lowest possible exceptions of 400M.

The acronym should have been - IJ DOA.

Sadly, it's going to leave more of a stain on the legacy than KOTCS.

So much for "impossible to fail."

Your commitment to your campaign is admirable!

I don’t know man that chimp swinging sequence is pretty rough lol

Saw this movie yesterday with friends. We had great fun and lots of loughing.
Many over the top moments that still worked. Good old indy flair.

Some things were a bit strange (like how the enemies were always right around the corner, like after the subway scene)
But good flick

I saw someone's post a few days ago somewhere who thinks Crystal Skull is much better than Dial. It got me thinking, how is that even possible? Maybe its better because Indy is 15 years younger?

So I started thinking of the characters -- you know, who really bugs. Who's annoying? Other than Raiders, Indy usually has one annoying taveling companion: Willie, Brody (made to be an *****) or Teddy... but with Skull you have a cavalcade of annoying characters...

Mac - that annoying triple-dealing *** who's big catchphrase is: Jonesy!

Oxley - poor John Hurt, the babbling truth-keeper who's... under some kind of spell, I guess?

Marion - just terrible, and sometimes she seems almost psychotic

Mutt - a "Greaser" is the last style someone should be wearing in an adventure film -- and yet, somehow his acting isn't as bad as the others - he's just so out of place it isn't even funny, Daddio

So that's Skull's biggest crime -- every single character that surrounds Indy is utterly annoying and mostly unlikable. Add Indy's age, few memorable action set-pieces, and a villainess ripped from Rocky-and-Bullwinkle, and you are not left with much to like.

So, yeah... Dial of Destiny is a good show relative to that...

Yeah about the only way Skull might edge out DOD is that it's shorter and moves at a slightly faster clip. But in every other way it's just so... much... worse.

And sure Ford looks more believable in the outfit, but he also does a crap ton of cheesy mugging for the camera that is absolutely painful to watch. So not sure there's really much of an advantage there.

I will say Mutt is probably the least offensive thing in the movie for me though, as I thought he brought a fun energy to the role. Only problem is the ridiculous outfit they put him in, and the fact he looks nothing whatsoever like Ford. Lol

Digital release press release, I stripped out all the boring stuff lol

The film will be available from all major digital retailers including Prime Video, Apple TV, and Vudu on August 29, with never-before-seen bonus content including five chapters that chart the making of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Bonus Features
The Making of Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny (Documentary – 50 minutes)

Street Date – Digital: August 29, 2023
Product SKUs – Digital: 4K UHD, HD, SD
U.S. Audio – Digital: English Dolby Atmos (UHD only, some platforms)

And just to add, I have been buying discs online since the late nineties and I looked into buying Disney discs from overseas.

But between currency rates, shipping costs, tax, currency conversion it would cost around $60AU per UHD movie. If they were still manufacturing here I could get a UHD disc for less than $20AU when it’s on special.
