I read at the beginning of 2009 that the trilogy was supposed to be released on Blu-Ray by the end of the year and since then...nothing. Has anyone heard any recent developments with this?

They said the same thing about this year when KOTCS came out. I'll take it with a grain of salt. :lol

That's why The Digital Bits posted this in their "Rumor Mill." Until there's an official announcement or press release from LFL or Paramount, it's just that.

Yea all still rumors but at least now we will get sooner than when HD-DVD was still around. Lucas said he would not release Indy or Star Wars in hi-def until there was one format. I think with Indy 4 at least coming out in Blu-ray it gives us a good chance we will see it soon.

I don't get why they don't just put them out? :lol The fact that we haven't seen the Star Wars sextet on Blu-ray has me a bit concerned about what they're doing to it. Indy doesn't need any of that unless they're reshooting all the digital crap from KOTCS as practical effects (we can hope :lol).

Yea, it would be nice if Lucas would release them any year now.:banghead

Although with the original star wars trilogy hes probably avoiding releasing them because it cost a ton to make them presentable for re-release in 1997 (lets just forget all the extra mucking around he did, Greedo had it coming) and then again for DVD, who knows what it will cost to make ANH worth while on Blue-Ray.

Many older movies look much better on DVD, as some look really grainy in HD, and some just look the same. I would think ESB and ROTJ would look good though.

As for the Indy movies, they should have been out already.

I hope if they do Indy on Blu, they clean up some of the matte lines on some of the effects. Not neccessarily go the special edition route, but just some of the more noticable composites. Those will look MORE noticable in HD.

What I don't understand about the inevitable Star Wars release on Blu-Ray is that SpikeTV has already aired all of the originals in HD, most recently over Christmas. They've already been transfered so what's the deal?

Candy-coated Stormtroopers and a CG Yoda for the OT. ;)

Lucas still needs to realize his "original vision" of Boba Fett as a ballerina.

I actually wouldn't mind them going back and updating the "special edition" visual effect since I'm sure those will be the versions released and, in my opinion, date the movies considerably more than the original special effects. CGI does not stand the test of time as well as good old fashioned models, sets and makeup.

Saving Private Ryan I agree with. As for A.I., I'd rather be strapped to a chair and unceremoniously forced to watch all the Jar Jar scenes from TPM on repeat.

A.I. was one of the WORST movies I'd ever seen.

:duh :duh :duh :duh

I bet dollars to donuts neither of you can explain to me the theme of A.I. (what it's about).

Oh, and if you even mention "aliens" at the end of the movie you're automatically losing -1,000 cognitive awareness points. Because there are no aliens.

$$$$$$$$$$$

The SW market is already over-saturated, thanks to the Clone Wars shiiite. Let it turn and burn a bit and mainstream demand for SW on Blu-ray will build, hence a couple more sales and a marketing campaign people might actually pay attention to.
