I'm just happy to see a start date and filming to begin. This would be a first for Indy 4 and I'm sure that means that it's really going to happen this time.

:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock

As much as I love Indy, they waited too long for this. If it had been made 10 years ago it could have been good but Ford is in his mid-sixties and is looking really long in the tooth. He's not looking in as good of shape as Stallone was in Rocky Balboa. I have a feeling Indy 4 will end up looking like an episode of the Young Cindy Chronicles with Old Indy as the museum caretaker. It's time to put Indy to bed.

Love Indy but not looking forward to a character piece with a questionable script which never quite reached a level of quality needed to make this work... I think Lucas and Spielberg are more interested in making money now than making good movies... sorry to be so glum but I work in this business and have heard more trepidation about this project than I really wanted...

Let's just hope the quality of this franchise wasn't sacrificed for greedy purposes and it holds it's own... and as always, the audience will be the final judge. :D

Don't they already have enough money? :D

I really hope that they wouldn't go back to this unless they had a really good reason. All involved have better things to do than make another Indy movie just because they're all still alive and working. But money can be a big motivator. We'll have to wait and see, but I am going to try to be hopeful.

Spielberg, at least, isn't going to direct something just for the money. His track record should demonstrate that.

The last we heard was from Frank Darabont who was seemingly a little bitter that Lucas didn't approve his script. And that article didn't mention who wrote the script that was finally approved.

I'm interested in this, but I do agree that Ford is a bit long in the tooth for an action hero. I'm thinking there will be a kind of passing the torch to a new gen hero. How about Angie Jolie as Indy's daughter?

Are you kidding Tom? :D Of course they want to do it to make money... let's be realistic here, that is the single motivator in this town... and yes, for these guys too unfortunately. Believe me casting a 65 yr old grandfather to reprise his role ain't for altrusitic reasons... although I think Harrison can pull it off without a hitch.

And Spielberg directing was probably part of the financing deal with the studio... otherwise I would agree with you guys that they are doing it for the craft or novelty or whatever but in any event I hope they deliver.

And Dave, why do you think Dreamworks went bankrupt and left their shareholders holding the short end of the stick while the partners got richer? I don't want to get into this now but please believe this is only being done for business reasons, I just hope they do the franchise justice...

Its ironic people keep pulling up Rocky as a measuring stone. Because a few years back when Stallone was trying to get Rocky Balboa into production, everyone was saying the same thing: he's too old, he's out of shape, its too late. Well, he proved us all (I will admit I didn't think it work either). With Ford, Spielberg, and Lucas behind it, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. They are going to go the Balboa route this time. If I am not mistaken, the time frame has been moved up to the Cold War and the old skool Russians are the "bad guys". They are going to show how Indy has aged and adapted to his aging. I think it will work. I doubt we will see 5 or 6, so its basically Indy's Balboa. Can't wait til it gets here.

P.S. Just because someone makes a movie hoping to make money doesn't mean it will be crap. 99.9% of our top 10 list of movies were made to make money.

P.S.S. While the plot was a little hackneyed, if you saw Ford in Firewall, I think that movie proved he is in good enough shape to do convincing action ... hell, if Connery can do it in The Rock at age 66 in 1996, no reason Ford can't do it at 65 here and now.

I'd like to see a reboot - it could be a great new franchise - I think Harrison Ford is DEFINITELY past it - and more to the point he seems to have little enthusiasm for any of the characters that made him.

Time for a new direction with it.

I'm happy about the cold war setting, I miss the good old cold war plots in movies. That's part of the reason I was disappointed with Casino Royale being set in the present. Also, I just wanna give props to Lucas and Spielberg for writing about the Holy Grail before it became fashionable to do so.

Here here! I agree, Bond should remain a period piece set in the Cold War. The Cold War ruled. Life was good then. We were living under the bomb and couldn't be happier. The Superpower stalemate kept the world in check and the Commies made the coolest bad guys.

As for a reboot of Indy... forget it. Nobody can play Indy but Harrison Ford. Nobody.

Even though I'm currently peacemealin' a Custom Indy I'm hoping that the green light for this film means SSC 12" figures of good ol' Dr. Jones. :D

Damn straight!! Agreed 110%. I supported Stallone in his quest to make one more Rocky and one more Rambo movie, I'll support another Indy.

And I do think it will play to the fact that he's a little too old to be swinging around on a whip and searching for lost artifacts. The new setting will help as well... I'm down no matter what.
