Am i right in thinking mods can only be used on PC versions of the game?

I would recommend using Nexus as your modding resource. They host tons of mods and have a great community when it comes to Bethesda games. Official modding tools for Fallout 4 wont be released till sometime in 2016 though so it will be a bit yet before you see really incredible mods but there is still some good stuff over on Nexus right now. I'm using a few mods including a display that shows the speech options in their full text form and a system that adds a ton of misc items to settlement building right now. And yes modding is only available to PC users right now.

Only mods i need are a saiga shotgun and my girl Willow.

might have to get the bonkers weapon mod for giggles tho
