I can't log in, get it to update, or even come up on home page? I can load other pages just fine.

Just wondering if my PC or the site itself.

weird, I've restarted my computer twice. I called my cable company about ta similar issue a week or two ago and they said "certain sites can't load, we're working on it." This is like the third time it's happened.

On phone now, got 3 days credited ($14 woo hoo), mostly because I've complained each time it happened.

To me, this is unacceptable. Service is spotty at best; I don't pay for spotty service.

glad I wasn't bidding on anything.

Thanks for the help guys.

eBay has been running crappy on my end for the past couple days... I get a "page cannot be displayed" message here and there but I can get it to load with persistence.

what type of service? verizon fios is the way to go. isps using cable are subject to slower speeds at peak times. dsl is way too slow and with every dial-up service, you get a free bullet. :pow :lol

i have Cox and they are working just fine and dandy

But's that's in Kurgee-zy . In A-Z, it aint working for $ h!t. I'm on my laptop now (before on desktop) and still has hit/miss on sites. This is even worse than an all out outtage, because I invest the time in a longer than normal reply, only for it to spin into infiniti and never update. :banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead

check your firewall permissions and your browser security settings. it does sound like it is an isp problem.

Cox told me to pound sand. I still can't get to Ebay's site. I haven't updated anything in past couple of days, but I think microsoft pushed out a bunch of security downloads which I get automatically.

I checked my internet option and changed my security from medium/High to just medium. I also disable popup blocker. The windows firewall through the control panel is turned off; I'm not sure if I'm using s SW firewall through Norton AV 2007 or just the firewall that is part of my router.

Lady on phone said "disable your security" which is pretty generic and I've tried everything I can think of, other than doing a hard reset to my router which I will do when I get home.

Any other ideas?

rebooting your network hardware is a good idea. with windows firewall disabled, shut off your norton to confirm it's not causing the problem. if your security settings are set to low, you've rebooted your router and modem, and you've disabled the firewall, i can almost guarantee that your isp has a problem somewhere. also make sure all your cabling is plugged in and do a visual inspection to make sure there's no physical damage to the cable or connectors. tug GENTLY on the connectors to confirm they aren't loose. you can also test your NIC card (network interface card where your cable plugs into your computer) by going to the Command Prompt and typing in
ping 127-0-0-1 if all 4 packets reply without a problem, it's working properly and the problem is beyond your computer.

FINALLY!!!! Someone at Cox Cable that knew what the F$%& they were talking about. Tyler, I tried all those things, and still unable to connect.

Turns out, Cox in my area is going through upgrades and increasing the speed of their network. So my cable modem that has worked like a champ for the past 7 or 8 years is now obsolete and couldn't keep up with the speed. A new linysys CM100 is working good now, full connectivity.

Damn that was frustrating. The worse part is, only about half the people I spoke to at Cox had any idea of the problem, everyone else is in denial and throw up roadblocks like, "Contact Ebay", "Contact Norton", "Contact your Router compnay". BS.

Thanks for the recommendations.

glad to see you're up again. amazing your isp doesn't inform all it's employees dealing with tech issues that upgrades needed to be done to hardware. not the first time i've seen a company that has one hand that doesn't know what the other hand is doing. :lol
