or does this little SOB look like he's copying the Punisher PF. Pose, vest, everything.

The full pic going around looks just like the statue.

edit: Since one person seems to be offended by this, I'll throw out the disclaimer that this thread is simply to discuss the world of pop art and possible mimickry or imitation of characters in violent acts. It's not meant to glorify anyone.

While I personally don't believe in the direct influence of t.v. and games on acts such as these, I do think that they can provide an already capable person with a creative way to carry out plots and or mimick. Why not comic art? Why not statues? Why not popular characters? While I don't think any of these would be a cause, I certainly think it's plausible that someone capable of doing such things would look up to violent characters and imitate them. I think if you were to take them away these things would still happen, but with them, I absolutely think that people will use them as reference.

I have no tact, so I'm not offended, but some might think it's a bit too soon for that......when is not too soon than? Whatever.

It shouldn't offend anyone. It's no different than discussing if he was influenced by violent games or movies. Just an interesting observation.

I straight up agree dude, but it probably will. I mean shoot, around here even saying "SS logan PF Sucks!" (not my view) would offend someone, this is a little bigger than that though. But I'm w/you. I hate when people say "IOt's too soon" for what? I hate that crap "Let the healing begin" wtf? For who? Unless you were friends or family of those victims, shut up! Ok, now I said too much, and it veered from the original context, my bad.

Anyway, think the dude was a big Punisher fan? He went on like he thought he was Frank.

Meh... standard "tough guy with gun" pose as far as I'm concerned.

I am not offended, but I could see alot of people who will be.

I agree I think it's just a standard tough guy pose and to throw my two cents into the great debate, I don't think people like that are influenced by anything.

They have an illness or a dysfunction and although that's very sad a number of innocent people have had to pay for it with their lives.

Which is far sadder.

It annoys me when I see killers' actions being blamed on things like horror films etc, when in reality it goes much deeper than that.

Otherwise we'd all go and see Die Hard or play Halo and start shooting each other up in the street afterwards.

What's wrong with that guy?! I wish the media never released his name or anything else about him because he is getting much more fame than he deserves. What an ass.

It did remind me of the Punisher PF and what's with the tact stuff. There is nothing wrong with showing that picture. People always trying to be a hero. hehe

Just bugging you.

But yes I saw the resemblance between the two.

People shouldn't be offended. Unless they are hypocrites, because a lot of us on here are collectors of things that glorify violence and that show people getting killed by all things, yes, guns.

Just like the guy who was trying to be a hero by mentioning how disrespectful my signature was because of what went down a few days ago. Hello, I have had this signature weeks ago while people were getting killed by guns on a daily basis, and nobody said anything then. Like I mentioned in that post, perhaps we shouldn't read comics, collect statues, toys, or see television programs or movies that glorify guns and violence.

People need to understand this is the world we live in. It's not a perfect candy land where nothing bad happens. I am upset just like everyone else what went down at VT, but the scary thought is this won't be the last time we'll experiece something horrific like this. I wished I could say it was the case, but the realist in me knows better.

There is also a lot of good in this world too, which I often feel gets neglected. I find that a lot of the news in our world is often negative. What about the feel good stories? I have one! An elderly woman in my city was riding one of those sit down scooters. She was 89 and somehow her wheel got caught in the track, dunno how... Anyway apparently she fell with the scooter on top of her and a train was approaching. Luckily a woman saw this and ran out of her car to rescue the old lady. Both the elderly and young woman are fine.

well it was directed at him, and he's already been in the thread so he knows not to click on it now. If he's offended, he can simply stay out of the thread.

The main problem is that the man was mentally ill yet after counselors mentioning it to authorites nothing could be done. I work with mentally ill students and it is a hard situation. There are so many that fall into the same category as this man. The loner with a chip on his shoulder is common today. But we cannot put them all into institutions or jail. What happen at VT was a tragedy. Gun control, violence in the media are really not the issue. This young man was ill and there was no way of dealing with him because he refused help and had not done anything prior. I am always at a loss when things like this happen because it can happen anywhere.

Whether the case, I don't see any problem with this thread. :)

Just some people need to make a big stink out of everything. It would be offending if we supported what the guy did at VT, which I hope, none of us do. Or making fun of the situation. But since I don't see that as being the case I don't see any problem here.

Yeah. it should say tasteless thread about a psycho killer looking like a SS statue. Nothing to do with hipocrisy Eli. Has to do with a horrific event only a few days old, and a lot of people here knowing someone who goes to that school. It'll be up to Dave.

True, I keep forgetting that others may know of students from that school. I didn't look at it from that angle. In that light I can see a problem.

Knowing Dave, this thread will probably get locked. Which maybe for the better. hehe

My lasting thoughts, in Wofford's defense, it wasn't his intention to offend anyone or try to start up a tasteless thread.
