ok, i know everyone here does it. but my girlfriend saw me purchasing something today on ebay and said i shouldn't be buying myself toys when its Christmas time. i said it was a present to myself.... so is it wrong for me to be taking advantage of the holiday sales to buy stuff that i know someone isn't going to be giving me???

Nope. But tell her she's free not to spend any money on herself. The look on her face will almost be worth the pain you're almost certain to suffer for saying that. :emperor

I see nothing wrong with it, buy away! I am contemplating buying myself the Medicom Jack Bauer but don't know if I should. Thread hijacking alert! Does anyone have a medicom Jack Bauer that would like to share some pics?

:rotfl :rotfl I would pay to see that expression on her face. LoL.Anywho, I don't see it wrong to buy yourself anything for Christmas. If she sees you again buying something for yourself, then just tell her to buy it for you.

cool, i'm just glad that nobody else here thinks i'm in the wrong. in fact, i'm trying to unload some of the stuff i have on preorder so i won't get hit with too many things at once. i just bought a couple things i know i wont find this cheap again.

If it's wrong than I don't wanna be right. I wouldn't have a Wii, Medicom Stormtrooper, a new video card (which I tricked my wife into thinking was for her so she could play Sims 2 "better") and more to come. I just make sure I have everyone else covered first. And also, I don't buy stuff I told people to buy me for X-Mas and my B-day, which is close to X-mas.

Is it wrong for you to spend your own money and buy things you want? I'm gonna go with no.

If I didn't get myself the stuff, I'd never have it. Better to get something you really want (even if buying for yourself) than to try to explain to your loved ones (who haven't a clue what you're talking about) and then get something "almost" that they found for you at WalMart or TRU.

LOL True! Once my older sister got me an XXL Tie-Dyed Pod racer shirt 2 years after Ep. 1 hit. "You like Star Wars right?" I just had to grit my teeth and smile, and I still have the shirt. Maybe the worst gift I ever got. I guess it could have been a Jar Jar shirt:eek:

The only problem that I've ever had with that is that we always buy presents for each other at christmas so if I buy for myself stuff that I want then it might be too difficult for other people to get me stuff, so usually I can't buy stuff for myself after like Thanksgiving, but I'm ok with it now as long as it's not something on my christmas list.

HELL NO!!! I just spent $633 on myself for X-Mas. Though I spent my birthday money, holiday money from work & my wife is helping, its a present to me and no one else. I work my ass off all year long and I think everyone deserves to treat themselves to something nice. Especially around x-mas time.

I see no issue with it unless its something someone might buy for you for christmas then it kinda sucks. I use to be make my parents and granparents ad because if I want something I buy it and they hever get to buy my anything.

My wife scolds me for this as well. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with doing this. I make a Christmas list, and that's the only stuff that's off-limits for me. Most times, it's filled with items that are easily found. If I relied on my parents or others to buy me other hard-to-find items, I'd never get them because they don't understand that some of this stuff is "get it as soon as you see it"

Just this past weekend, I bought/ordered the following for myself:

SSC Xenia Onatopp 1/6 figure
SSC Alec Trevelyan 1/6 figure
SSC Darth Maul 1/6 figure (had to cancel my Inclusive a while back so I reordered the regular)
HP Deskjet printer
New spyware/anti-virus software

Absolutely not. I reserve SS to be my domain to buy my goodies and have friends and family get me what they have in mind. I never tell them about SS, so they have no idea about my fetish here.

well, i just think its ok since i don't expect anyone to buy anything from SS because of the cost. however, my girlfriend did buy me a nice PF for one of my presents. she just doesnt want me ruining some of my other surprises.

The only way I could see this being an issue is if you had set aside money to buy gifts for someone else and instead spent the money on yourself. Otherwise, who gives a damn. It's your money.

no this is just some of my money i decided to spend. my GF and my brother are the only people i really buy presents for. my parents don't let me and my brother buy them expensive gifts so we usually just take them out for dinner. other than that, i only send my friends a card or something.
