I am not sure if anyone else has had any trouble with getting their packages from customs, but it looks like I am having just that issue.

I bought something off of a member here from Denmark. He shipped it out, got tracking, etc. It has been stuck in customs since the 24th of Sept. I tried calling the post office but they weren't all that much help. Just said if it stays there for 30 days, then it ships back.

If I can't get it out of customs and it goes back, how is that my fault?

Hope someone can shed some light.

This is why u shouldnt deal internationally.

Ive sold items and I know the stone handed customs agents broke things not knowing how to handle these things.. then I have to clean up the mess..

NO MORE!!

Plus the forms are annoying along w/ the increased risk of scams..

NO MORE!!!!

Well, in 2 days it will have been in customs for 30 days. I haven't received anything from customs to say hey, we have it, you have a fee to pay, or there was a problem, or anything. So I have no idea what is going on. It's just so stressful.

I will say this, over the past 15 years of using the post office to buy and sell from Canada, I have never had anything get stuck in US customs. However, I have had packages get stuck in Canadian customs on two occasions. Both times it was because people filled out the forms remarkably incorrectly. For example, they would declare the value of an item at $10 and insure it for $200. Another time, someone decribed the item as "puchased" instead of what it actually was. It's stuff like that that, that tends to ring all sorts of alarm bells with customs. However, 99% of the time, there are no issues.

Sadly, shipping overseas is an entirelly different kettle of fish. Just about everything gets stopped at customs because just about everything gets taxed so the shipment has to sit there until the person at customs eventually gets around to bill the recipient. I recently sold a $500 piece to a fellow in Poland. He paid for the 3 day shipping option. It literally took 6 weeks to get to him. Thankfully, the item arrived fine.

This is definitely my last international purchase. I had no idea it was this bad.

Seriously:horror I understand your hesitancy because of one bad experience, but keep in mind it really is only once. I have had more issues with domestic shipping than international in my experiences.

I have been lucky I have ordered a few Items from Japan and China and they Arrived right on time with No Problems with Customs.I guess it is a hit or miss with customs nowadays
