Just finished sculpting a Jason mask but having trouble working out how to cast it? Would I need to make a two piece mold?

Re: Voorhees mask mold help

Do the holes in the mask go all the way through, or are you going to drill them out after you cast, on each resin piece?

Re: Voorhees mask mold help

No the air and eye holes do not go all the way through, was hoping to just drill the eyes out after casting, dont think I need to drill the air ones out. This is driving me crazy lol

Re: Voorhees mask mold help

use Alumilite's High Strength 3 from Hobby Lobby... don't forget, they often have 40% off coupon on their website. I use it to cast heads, it they are flexible enough you pull heads right out (1 piece) and you can easily cast 30+ if you wanted...

Re: Voorhees mask mold help

Hmm, I use dental silicone to cast heads. It's the shape of the mold I cant work out.

Re: Voorhees mask mold help

I know 1:1 scale masks are typically cast by vacuum forming. I'd be interested in seeing someones suggestions on how to build the mold for casting a small scale hockey mask.

Re: Voorhees mask mold help

aww now that’s a good idea! Think I will try to scale down a vacuum table!!!!! thanks

Re: Voorhees mask mold help

Made a 2 peace mold but needed to inject the resin to get it to flow. If anybody wants one they are on eBay now, pm me here as freaks get a discount.
