After seeing this Batman, I'm sadly going to pass on their Catwoman. I just don't see how it's going to be a figure on a par with hottoys. The 89 Batman Hortoys made over 10 years ago still has better Keaton likeness.
I'm now back to waiting on Marstoys.
But the sitting 89 is more of an accessory to the Batmobile and Catwoman is it’s own main product. So I think they will put more effort in Catwoman than this.

That makes zero sense depending on how much Joost decides he wants to sell this thing for, if his pricing is off even slightly, it makes more sense to sacrifice a second 2.0 HT that will have more detail, posable and feature rolling eyes. If you have to have the canopy displayed open with Keaton inside, wouldn’t you go with the most detailed option given the price difference is marginal?

So the likeness is bad because it's an accessory to their batmobile? But they will nail the likeness on Catwoman somehow? I thought both are done by the same artist?

Just a quick photo comparison, the Hottoys DX09 on the left is made 13 years ago. On the right is the revised final proto head from Jazzinc.

He was that age when he directed Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
Thanks for clarifying, I remember seeing an old talk show interview with him when he was promoting, I believe Returns and he mentioned how young and inexperienced he was when he began directing. Still what? 29-32 directing Jack Nicholson on a massive blockbuster.

Seems like every angle and head tilt and expression makes a big difference.

For those wondering it will be priced at $170

Not really. They’re early enough to where things like movable eyes are reasonable to be implemented - there’s no way any serious changes will be made after they have a “finished” Catwoman.
Could’ve produced 3 prototype sculpts, two that we’re currently getting, as planned, then one with rolling eyes; paint them up, then open up a poll with something physical to vote on. Enough of voting on renders that amount to nothing. I’m fine with seeing them, they’re nice to have, but by no means are they something that should be voted on. We have no idea how a render will look painted, so we’re basically voting in the dark as if we don’t have an option.

Yeah, he'd be 31 in 1989 so he was just 30 when directing Nicholson. He's so odd though, he likely didn't take notice; just playing in his world.

Nearly as crazy as Spielberg being 28 when he directed Jaws.

The fact that Burton & Nicholson didn’t grow up on Batman certainly helped as it did for Ledger. Sometimes what you need is a breath of fresh air, an actor, director or writer obsessed with the comics won’t produce quality work. Snyder failed because he wanted comics brought to life instead of making his Batman or his Superman, that’s boring.

Huh??? It's the opposite. Maybe his Batman was comic accurate, but Snyder's problem was his Superman. It was HIS vision, not from the source material. It seems Gunn is going for a more accurate Superman. Burton, Nicholson, Ledger had their own takes but weren't too far from the comics.

I don’t mean comic accurate as in the direction he chose his characters’ personality or sense of morality to have, his Batman kills people and his Superman didn’t behave like the Clark Kent we know regardless of being the outsider in BVS. I meant Snyder literally wanted his Justice League to appear straight off the page, he’s a visual director, which is why he was successful in visually bringing the justice league to life, but failed to create depth beyond the costumes.

Snyder's characters had depth
You think so? How many films has Affleck starred as Batman and not a single solo film? Because of this I feel I barely know him and not in a good way. Keaton & Bale had films to flesh their characters out, but most importantly writers that could weave together a mostly coherent story. The only two lines I remember Ben saying across the entire DCEU are -
“ Martha” and “I’m rich”, that isn’t depth for a character with as much emotional turmoil as Bruce Wayne.

People just weren't comfortable with the way he challenged those characters. He opted to present them at their lowest. He had a broken Batman, and a humanly vulnerable Superman, both of which had to overcome to earn their place in the pantheon (As the heroes they're expected to be).

And the cruces of their struggles in BvS are opposites. Superman is burdened with power. Batman is burdened by powerlessness. And I find it such an interesting dichotomy.

You're right to point Snyder's strength in visual storytelling. A lot of that meaning is carried across through symbolism, and not so much through dialogue.
