EXCLUSIVE: Lionsgate has set Len Wiseman to direct Ballerina, an action spinoff of the lucrative John Wick franchise.

Ballerina focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family. The picture is on a fast track, with a script by Shay Hatten, whose credits include the Zack Snyder-directed Army of the Dead for Netflix and John Wick: Chapter 3 ? Parabellum.

I'm kinda iffy on Len Wiseman. I've worked on the set of his Total Recall remake for 8 days total. The guy was only present on set for 1 day. Relies too much on second unit to make a deadline.

Hope it's Unity Phelan as the Ballerina...

Even though I love JW, I’m not sure the JW universe is that far along, or large enough yet for me to really care what’s going on in it beyond what I’ve been shown in the three films thus far. I’m pretty much just taking those at face value as being what’s going on in the JW universe.

It’s not like the MCU where as it got more vast and popular, they started expanding it and creating spin-offs to fill in gaps in between.

This could very well be a solid movie... but the trailerisms of today -- the single piano note at the opening, rhythmic cuts, bass wobbles, and classic rock samples/covers -- do it zero favors. Trailer houses need to be done with this formula. It's excruciatingly overplayed and makes every film it advertises indistinguishable from the other.

I wonder where the unique trailers come from. Are they made by the filmmakers? Or can a request be put in when they hire a vendor to make it a specific (read: different) way?

Do familiar trailer tropes actually work on most people and I'm in a weird minority that loses interest the second they hear a bassy WOB-WOB-WOOOB-WOOOOB-WOOOOOOOB?

Been waiting for Ana to do an action movie since her stint in No Time To Die... a lackluster Bond where she was the BEST part by far.

I look forward to this.

It really annoyed me that she played such a great character in the last of Daniel Craig's Bond movies. Before I saw the ending - I thought to myself, "I can't wait to see her again in a sequel".
