Journey-Revelation with Arnel Pineda

I picked up Journey's newest album "Revelation" the other day, and I gotta say, I LOVED it. I was intrigued by this Filipino looking kid (he is actually 40) who is now the lead singer (replacing the legendary Steve Perry). Well, I can tell you this Arnel has an amazing voice. At time he sounds like a dead ringer for Mr. Perry, at other times he sounds even better. I got really into this story and found out Arnel was discovered on Youtube! What are your thoughts? I know some people will say Arnel is a karaoke version, or no one will ever top Perry, but I say say give the kid a chance to show his chops. Plus his story of going from a homeless bum living in the Philippines to lead singer of Journey is amazing. And if you are wondering, I am not Filipino

I couldn't vote for any of your choices since none of them apply to me, but I agree he does have a good voice and an incredible story. I hope Journey fans give him a chance.

Actually this guy is the second replacement for Steve Perry.The first sounded just like him and looked a lot like him as well.There was a VH1 or somesuch special about it a couple years ago.His initials were even the same S.P. can't tell you what his name was though.

Actually Arnel is 3rd Steve Augeri and Jeff Scott Soto.

I like Journey OK, and though I would never buy one of their studio albums without Perry, this guy does seem to have a decent enough voice to go on tour and give the rest of the band a living.

I will say that as far as 80s bands of this type go, Journey is no Chicago!

Seems like he's just trying to imitate Perry but not quite as good and with less emotion. Good story though.

I am not a fan of Journey but my wife looooooooooooves Journey so needless to say I have been to about 4 Journey concerts with all of the Journey singers EXCEPT Steve Perry. All of them are good and they all pretty much sound like SP so meh...whatever...but yeah Cool story on Arnel...
