I had a JD unpainted vinyl kit sitting around for a few months whilst waiting for a fairly suitable bodysuit to get. I have tried to get him as near to 1 of the 2000ad versions of him as possible.

I added an extra row of feathers and sculpted a larger more detailed eagle head on his shoulder armour, i wasn't going to but Darthgothikus convinced me it needed doing .:lol I also had to make a handle for the gun because the kit 1 was molded in the hand. The kit was mostly binned as the boots, gloves and head were too small. I had to sculpt his mouth and cut the head to fit in the kits helmet as well.

I love 2000AD and this is a cool Dredd.

I'll dig my 1:7th scale statue out of the attic and bung a pic up later for comparison.

Cheers DG

Got the same vinyl kit and been sourcing the parts that sculpts great, you and Seb certainly set the bar high :)

Did you have to do any re-modelling on the kit and what was your base body ?

Cheers Mooncat :)

I used a BBI G3.5 body and padded him out a bit to give him some more muscle. I used Dragon boots, gloves and diving suit. I was going to make a faux leather suit but even though its 2 way flexible i didnt think it would work too well.

The bits i had to sculpt was the mouth on the BBI head and i also had to cut most of the top of the head off to get it to fit in the helmet. The BBI heads feel very solid but if u pop them in hot water their hollow and very easy to cut. I think the BBI head was quite nice in the end cos he has a good chin. When i painted the head i gave him some stubble cos it just felt right.

I also sculpted a larger eagle head on his shoulder. The other part i done on the shoulder was add an extra row of feathers on the bottom using plastic then i just simply hot glued them in place.

I made a handle for the gun as well because the kit 1 is molded in the hand.

I used some faux leather to make a material belt for him, and just cut all the pouches and the buckle off the kit and glued them on after painting.

The gloves and boots also had the bits from the kit cut off and glued on the dragon boots and gloves.

I dont have any chain so i was a bit lazy and just twisted some twisty ties together for the badge chain.

With the elbow pads i cut a bit of the scrap part of the kit and made some straps so the elbow pads can be removed. The knee pads are literally held in place by the original straps which i just cut at 1 corner. The larger pad part is just placed on top loosely.

The only bits i spray glossed were the shoulders, gun, badge, belt buckle and helmet, and the only bits glued on are the shoulders and badge.

It took about 7hrs to do roughly excluding drying times.

I hope that answers your questions and i look forward to seeing your version cos i know it will be great :peace

Hi Crimsonbob

Here's my Dredd Statue as promised, also found D.R. & Quinch while I was poking about!

Dredd's about 1:7th scale, the other two seem a bit smaller.

Picked them up years ago direct from 2000AD - they had a clearance sale on and they were going for a few quid each.
