Jor El, a scientist mopped the floor with Zod, a guy who was designed and as he claimed, "bred to be a warrior!!"

That's our introduction to Zod as a physical treat, during the opening of the film.

His second fight, he loses again and they had to recue him from Sups. It made sense that he wasn't used to his abilities, but he still came across as weak, when he was easily overpowered by the hero. Again, it's a matter of perception.

By the time he fights Sups one final time, he's got no aura of invincibility, and his little speech about being "bred to be a warrior" pointless when a scientist whopped his ass in hand to hand combat.

Your reaching dude, how bout ultron

Zod >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ultron

Ultron kind of sucks though.

Yes that was my point, Zod posed a threat to supes but ultron never posed any threat to any of the heroes. He was by far the worst villain in all the superhero movies (dc, marvel or fox) other then the suicide squad incest siblings, but i don't really count them as villains there were so bad and poorly conceived.

Because I'm a child and I never get tired of seeing dildos flying into space. It's your fault for bringing them up.

If they had just tweaked maybe 5-7 minutes MOS would have been SO differently received.

1. Have the prison ships not look like dildos
2. Have Pa Kent die in any other fashion.
3. Don't have Supes looking like a smug prick when being interrogated by the government.
4. Add in several shots of him saving people mid battle at the end.
5. Don't destroy an expensive satellite just to show off.

Not saying that that would have turned MOS into TDK but it would have been so easy to eliminate 90% of what it is mocked for with just a few slight alterations.

Sups should have carried that satellite down, and he would have made the same point, without the aggression and awkward tension, since his whole point was trying to tell the general that he wasn't a threat to humans :lol

In fact, had he done that, the "he's hawt line" might have worked better in a sort of cheesy light hearted way.

That wasn't reaching at all. He described exactly what transpires in the movie. I liked Shannon's performance but he does get his @$$ kicked throughout the film.

This is not to say that you're wrong about Ultron though. I found him very disappointing overall. Weirdly his best scene was his first scene - as the decrepit half-built (half-destroyed?) robot. There was something oddly freaky about that. It was downhill from there.

Never go full reboot. You end up like Spiderman.
An improvement over all previous versions in the medium?

Man, picking between Zod and Ultron is not an easy one for me. Despite my many issues with Man of Steel, I really liked the casting of Zod, and thought he did what he could with the role. I also thought Spader's voice and attitude made for an interesting villain as a robot. But both of those stories, and associated development of the antagonist were really problematic.

I like Ultron's personality. When he accidently rips the guy's arm off was kind of scary because it showed his strength and lack of control. His last scene was good too.

But I take Zod because of his performance and motivation and the Kryptonians as a whole over Ultron and his disposable army. Faora was more of a physical threat than Zod, and she totally owned Sups and every human. Plus, Kryptonians are just cooler than a sassy robot who couldn't reach his full potential in the story.

Some great points here. It's a big shame that Ultron ended up being so watered down, and Zod too, to a lesser extent. I think for the most part Shannon's Zod was a great villain.

Zod > Ultron

I must say. I enjoyed mos the most out of the dceu. But the damn points you mentioned are on point lol. Would have made it soooo much better!

Yeah Faora was badass, much moreso than her commanding officer. What happened to the third Kryptonian? The big guy? I literally can't remember.

Neither can I- what did happen to him?

I loved MOS and think it was a great take on Supes....
