Returns has lots of issues, but the core element of Superman was in there. He wasn't just angry guy with a cape.

I agree. It had some great moments too--that plane scene was absolutely awesome on the big screen. I loved the easter eggs and throwbacks--for the most part. It just didn't have enough overall action for me. I would have loved to have seen them throw in a Brainiac and Lex Luthor team-up like they did in the animated series. I still don't know how Brainiac hasn't popped up yet on the big screen. The closest we've gotten is this:

Yeah you definitely hit it on the head. No back and forth with someone on Clark's level really made it dull. It worked in the 78' film since it was an origin story and Hackman was so excellent in it. You didn't need some powerhouse to fight him since Luthor's mind was on equal footing with Superman's might. It almost has the same formula of Returns but was executed in such a better way. Obviously.

After first seeing MoS in theaters, I was thinkin' a sequel with Brainiac as the villain would be cool. The only DC movie I'm really looking forward to is MoS 2. JL too, but mainly due to curiosity.

There's so much they could've done with a Superman cinematic universe, without the JL being shoehorned in. They could've gotten Momoa to play Lobo instead.

I've been thinking this non-stop since he was cast.

Like even his Aquaman is PG13 Lobo.

I like Aquabro and everything but the fact that he's a better Lobo will haunt me forever. Same goes for Joaquin Phoenix Luthor.
