Found this tonight at a local Gas Station. The pic is from my Cell Phone so it's not very good. The piece though is a total rip off the SSW KOTD statue. Every last part of it.

What kind of Gas station carries statues? How much was it? Not bad for a rip off, but it is very noticeable to us that it was based on the Sideshow one.

It was a loacl Phillips 66. I believe it was $15 bucks. Oh yeah I looked at it and was like holy crap. It was funny how blatant it was but only to those that would know.

Only $15! WOW! Was it plastic or was it a stone material? Man, for that price you should have bought two. Keep one for yourself and send one to Sideshow. :lol

Still can't believe you found that at a gas station. The only stuff mine carry would be dollar store toys at rip off prices.

It appeared to be a resin material. Part of his sword hand on what would be the real KOTD was broke and they only had one. I'm tempted to go back and get it or send these pics to SS.

Yeah go back, and see if they will get any more in or know of another station nearby that might also carry it. I've love to see some more pics of it, but I don't think a search anywhere online would be very helpful since I have no idea what it would be called. :lol

I might just for grins. If I go back I'll get the name of the company making these off the bottom. It had a sticker but can't remember what it said exactly.

Perhaps Sideshow will reward you with a KotD statue :monkey3

Got one of those already. :lol

If SS wants a pic or for me to buy it so they can go after whoever is making it I will.

:lol Nice Al!

I have never been to Missouri, but your gas stations rock! :monkey5

I'd say there's a very slight resemblance, at best. The pose is similar, but the detailing and colors are different. And where's the sword? Wouldn't be worth Sideshow's time to even consider potential litigation. As far as I know, you can't trademark a pose, and I would assume it isn't marked "King of the Dead" or feature Sideshow's logo anywhere. Best to just ignore crap like that.

It's a definite rip off. Rather obvious in person. Yes, the colors are off but that and the look of the face are done differently to get around anything. I have no idea where the sword is. It could have been in the hand but that part was broke. I just saw it and thought this was funny seeing as it in person is a pretty dead on rip off of the KOTD. Just something I thought I'd share.

Thats great! They always have statues of Dragons, wizards and Native Americans around here. I haven't seen this one yet, but it seems like he'd fit right in :lol

Yeah, we've all been in gas stations that had this type of thing in them but I've never seen something that was a direct rip off. I just laughed about it really.

Yeah, Sideshow wouldn't have any claim against the manufacturer unless they actually used the Sideshow name. Knockoffs are allowed in nearly every industry. Recasting would not be allowed, but a cheap imitation would be.

The only potential violation here is with New Line's LOTR rights, especially if the KOTD or LOTR names/logos are used anywhere.
